Today is an important day.
I turned 25 today. My birthday isn't the reason that today is important. Today is the day I tell my parents that Jen and I are planning on marrying and eventually starting a family. I have been seen as part of Jen's family for a long time now. Jen on the other hand has been kind of intimidated by my family. My beliefs and lifestyle have gone in a different direction than my parents Mormon upbringing. I've kept some distance between them and my personal life in order to avoid a confrontation that never happened. So I think that has contributed to Jen's intimidation. Hopefully that ends tonight. We are all family now.
