Rock Photography
This workshop will run over three nights. Participants will explore the creative and
practical processes involved in photographing both live performance and stills for
publicity. The course will reveal the reality of being a rock photographer, who owns the
photos, who holds copyright and the ins and outs of photo agencies. Practical ways to get
good shots from talent, framing and getting the best out of your camera will all be
explored. A session will be spent at the Soundhouse’s Vector lab editing pre-shot and
concert footage using latest technologies. Students will gain first hand experience as a
“rock photographer” on the final night of the course at the Bondi Wave Concert. BRING
YOUR OWN DIGITAL CAMERA!!
Tutor Jason McCormack is a freelance rock photographer who has worked for Rolling
Stone, record companies, various music producers and promoters along with a host of
music and popular culture publications.
