RANT to the Big 3 pattern companies...
NOT ALL OF US ARE LONG TORSO-ED!!!!!!!!! Dammit when I buy a pattern I don't want the crotch to hang to my fucking knees!
So the silver pants for my Idol costume. I wish the material wasn't fucking lycra. >.< Sadly it's the only thing that looks close enough without being the actual fabric made of overlapping sequins ($20 a yard at spandexhouse). So I'm lining it with cotton, which is what I did for my Jem dress (with great results). Only thing is, I needed a waistband-less pants pattern, so I picked up a Butterick one last Thursday.....only to find today that the crotch seam is WAAAAAAY the FUCK too LONG. And when I say too long....I had to take this thing in at LEAST 4.5-5 inches. Just ridiculous. So I had about a 20 minute freakout session of "OMG how am I going to fix these so I don't have to make a whole new pair from scratch. Finally figured out that I could increase the inseam width and thus decrease the crotch seam length. Pinned it and walked around to make sure I didn't have cameltoe. >.< Before I started altering, the pants made me look like I had a penis!! NOT what I want while I'm up singing onstage. I'll sew the new inseam/crotch seam tomorrow and hope for the best. (I'm also worried that the color/shine at my waist/hip is going to emphasize them even more...and I'm alreayd pretty curvy. I just don't want to end up on 4chan in a Metro thread with ppl saying "WTF fatty.")
The legs on these pants are also way the fuck too wide. I love how pants that are PICTURED as form fitting end up being these wide fucking harem pants. I'm going to have to take in a LOT at the side openings to compensate. With all the material flapping around behind me I look like a school of flying fish!
Still have yet to make the top and style the wig for Idol, but found the tie at Ross. Am borrowing boots also.
