There is rarely ever a boring day since being back in Saskamatoon, and today, though it is only about 8:20 am, is no exception. At ten to seven our phone rang (WTF?!!) - since we no longer get up at the crack of dawn, this was highly annoying (okay, Sean was due to get up in 10 minutes, but still).
It was Constable Fraunch Accent from the Saskatoon City Policier calling as part of a fraud investigation! Apparently all those calls for Carrie were linked to a fraud thingy that they used our number for. Fun! Not for Carrie, presumably, but still.
Le sigh. So we were up, but it's a sunny day, so not too many complaints there.
I do have one large complaint, however: the latest Georgia Nicolson book release date is now early July!! Come On People. I need my fix. I have been waiting so patiently over here. But having dealt with complete redonkulousness lately from publishers regarding release dates, etc, I can kind of understand...sniff...I guess. Grumble.
Today I will see HP & JK hopefully (for those of you at the wedding, JK had the pink suit). We are having a last "10 year reunion planning" meeting in Rosthern with DB and family before next weekend's insanity. INSANITY! But awesome. Two of my old besties, BL and
kanadajin are staying at my place next weekend which = superfun.
And it's also the MCC sale this weekend. Do I go? I don't know if I can handle Mennonite Overload followed by High School Mennonite Overload next weekend. We will see. Depends how real the farmer's sausage craving gets.
Er. Also, I just read Untwisted by Serge LeClerc. Not to go all book report on your ass or anything, but this book is pretty great. It's basically the true story of his life to this point. We had a massive event for him, and people are still buying his book like crazy. He's seriously the nicest guy, very much the charismatic, friendly Rotarian Dad-type who flips burgers for the Kinsmen (can you be in the Rotary Club and the Kinsmen at the same time? I don't know, just work with me).
Anyway, at one point he was Canada's Most Notorious Criminal. And he did some crazy shit. And he was in the Kingston Penitentiary during the '71 Riots. And he got big into producing and selling drugs in the 60's and 70's. I can't even outline all of the insane stuff he went through in his life, and then he cleaned up, got a degree (with a grade 5 education), and now helps kids clean up and get their lives straightened out. It's the quickest read, and for something not always "well written" it certainly doesn't disappoint in content. I think I might suggest it as my "staff pick" for summer reading...it's not exactly the obvious choice when heading to the beach, but it's sooooo gooooood.
That's all for today. Haircut time.
