Tra la. It is the week between temp jobs, a time for resting, and planning, and getting all that housework done that I've put off since September.
Since my blog is open to all, I'm a bit worried about writing about my job (see older posts)....in any event, it was at a big non-profit, I helped with a certain Run, and I got lots of stuff. In the end though, my job was really boring - just making spreadsheets of business info off of canada411.com. Woot. But the people were generally good, and were actually a bit sad to see me go, which was surprising, as I had tried really hard to make myself invisible. Anyway. So I decided that The Littlest Hobo theme really suits my temping life. Don't get attached people, I'm moving on; and I'm taking this decorative coaster with me when I go.
Next week I start a part-time gig in a gov't department, filing and stuff. It doesn't pay as much, and I'll be working less hours (a bit dumb around Christmas, but whatevs), but it will give me time to pursue 'other activities'.
I am all scaredies and afraids to call people in S'toon to pursue jobs. When I emailed E'towners, asking the same thing, I got replies right away, booked meetings with them, and was on my way. Not so with S'tooners. Which makes me think they are trying to say:
a) there are no jobs, go away;
b) we're protective of our jobs, and unwilling to help youngsters, go away;
c) we're not interested, please go away;
d) you're opportunistic and as such, unlikable. Go away. or
e) we're really bad at returning emails, and that is a sign of our poor ability to manage.
So working up the courage to call is difficult. Perhaps if I just picture my old boss at recent temp job, telling me to call, and me having no choice, I can get this dunzo. We'll see.
But my house is getting cleaner with each procrastinating moment.
