This kind of heat makes me feel like I'm moving through thigh-deep water. Except it's my brain that has slowed down, not my legs. Hard to slow them down when they are just stretched out on the couch. Sweating.
Last week was fairly eventful. On Tuesday, M&K came to stay with us at the Fairbairn-Sinclair B&B: the first B usually deflates completely by 9am, and the second B may or may not be available. But we have cable. M&K are couplefriends of the Menno persuasion and we used to hang out in S'toon a lot. They stayed until Friday morning.
Meanwhile I had my first posting with Kelly Services. I was the "Program Manager" for a seminar on Microsoft Excel downtown. I stuffed workbooks and collected tickets and made people sign the attendance sheet and then I sat back and drank coffee while learning about Excel for $13 an hour. It was for Wed. and Thurs. mornings, 5 hours each day, and the second day I did nothing. I got to keep a workbook though, and I gave myself a certificate saying I had taken the course, which I had. Sweet posting.
Thursday afternoon I had an interview with the Edmonton Public Library. It was good. Everyone was super-nice. Shoes prepared me with questions, and most of those questions were asked. They laughed at all my jokes. Man, it would be nice to get that job.
Friday I went for brekky with M&K, then led them to the big mall where they were meeting the next set of friends. Then I went to the Edmonton and Athabasca Heritage Festival Launch with BD. It was mostly old people and speeches, but interessant none the less. I met the MLA who is friends with the RQs. He is handsome. And I connected with the volunteer person from the Prov. Archives. We picked up beaucoup de pamphlets, etc, then went to a cooler locale for coffee.
Post-coffee, I joined The Law and some more law peeps at the pub by the firm. Sue, TC's assistant, is a good laugh. She has a chihuahua named Gonzo who drinks only Tim Hortons coffee from his own special cup. Then TC came, one of the family law partners. I don't know why, but he makes me very uncomfortable. I try to make it out to be a flaw of his, but generally, I just get a weird uncomfy vibe from him. Which apparently I displayed, since everyone (Husband, and TC) seemed to think I was PO'd at him. Eh, whatevs. Give me an assistant with a funny dog over a lawyer (except Husband) any day.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was entertaining. We saw a matinee of it on Sat. Then we met up with hurr_ah, Shoes and the gang for drinks. It was good, but am I getting old? I really hate yelling conversation over loud music, and I can never hear anything. I am getting old.
Yesterday I was very warm, and today also.
And that was the week that was.
