I feel like I owe a real sort of post, as its been ages since I have done so.
School is going really well for me. I'm turning into one of those annoying people that are good at everything without trying, even the non hair stuff, like facials and waxing.
In August I'm trying out for the San Francisco Opera houses' overhire. Which basically means that they need more people than they would be able to get from the union. The school isn't sure yet whether or not you have to be licensed or just in school to do the hair part (wigs and braids) but we can do make up. I'm totally going to shoot for both either way, stage make-up is just easy to me, god I love being a theater brat and being able to throw beauty make-up out the window.
Also in August I'm going to Las Vegas for the Paul Mitchell Signature Gathering. Its totally spiff, two days of education, a chance to make contacts, and just an amazing experience all together. Best part is ,I won my ticket by teaching one of my uncoordinated, cutting teachers how to waltz in front of a panel of judges. The same way we would teach someone at Fezzies, funny how those skills come in handy.
About a day after I get back from Vegas I'm moving to Walnut Creek, a friend form school is hooking Jordann and I up with a sweet deal. I'm uber excited.
I've also taken a step back and sorted out my long term plan from the ones that will get me to where I want to be. Like moving to L.A. That one is going to have to wait a year or two. I think it will be more beneficial to apprentice at a high end salon for a year or two and build my skill level and speed up before I go tramping around in movie land. I seem to have a silly habit of getting really excited and making big plans without breaking them down. Glad I caught this one early on.
I guess thats really it for now. On with your regularly scheduled program.
