Author's Note/Disclaimer: This was written for
summer_cities , who wanted Peter/Claire with the prompt "Fives Things Peter Knows About Nathan's Daughter That He Shouldn't." They kind of fit together, if you squint a little. DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT LIKE PAIRE-INCEST.
001) Constellations
Claire’s got a freckle (or a mole, he’s not sure which) high on her left thigh; it’s small and dark, chocolate-coloured against her pale skin. It’s one among many, scattered along her soft skin like dustings of stars, placed haphazardly along her body. He sometimes spends hours on those lazy Sunday afternoons playing Connect the Dots with her skin and his finger.
002) Always Be My Baby
She doesn’t have to use birth control; any kind. Her body rejects the idea of a child. He found out, once. The first time he slept with her (back when they thought they needed condoms) she got pregnant. They were excited, but scared; how were they supposed to raise a child together, what with being related and all? But it didn’t matter - a few weeks into it, Claire lost the baby and they found out that cuts and broken bones (even death) isn’t the only thing she can bounce back from.
003) A Thin Line Between Living and Surviving
Peter hates fighting with her, but she’s constantly bickering with him; yelling at him for stupid, trivial things that don’t even matter in the long run. He finds out one day that the only reason she does it is because she likes the angry sex (and the makeup sex). She likes being shoved against the wall, likes being clawed, bitten. She likes it gentle and slow, too, but there are days where she just can’t piss him off enough. He thinks it has something to do with her healing abilities - maybe the more pain she feels (no matter how fleeting the moment is) the more alive she feels.
004) Permanence
Claire tried to get a tattoo once. It was Peter’s name in Gaelic; beautiful and unrecognizable, except to them. It was an act of love, of I belong to you, Peter; always and forever and he was speechless when she suggested it. He adored her, though, and would cater to every wish she made. But when the artist started the tattoo, her body rejected it; the skin on her inner thigh wouldn’t allow the ink to seep in, to stick. She left in tears (and in Peter’s arms).
005) 'Til Death Do Us Part
Noah wanted her married (It’ll protect you, Claire-Bear; you need some kind of cover). Nathan agreed and, before they knew it, Claire was walking down the aisle towards West. She was dressed in white, a long flowing gown that drove Peter wild (he knew what the body beneath looked like) and he almost laughed; Claire was nowhere near a virgin. But the look in her eyes, the sadness and the lack of excitement he saw whenever they were together, made the humor fade away.
