Wondering ...
Does anyone know of any writer's reference sites?
I mean, sites that have links to info on different things to help get details correct in a story - eg, you're writing a story set in England in 1854; do they have gas lamps yet? What about electricity? What sort of weaponry is around? How do the guns they have work (Flintlock? Six-shooter?)?
Or something as ordinary as someone taking a bath; what sort of soap do they use? What's in it? Could they be expected to have plumbing yet?
I don't know about anyone else, but I like to have that sort of background when I'm writing. I think it makes things a bit more real.
Can anyone suggest one, or do I need to start my own ;} ?
