OK, this is gonna be kind of morbid, but I think it's important. It's about dying. I'll cut now for those who don't want to read.

So, I was on my way to the hospital this morning. I'm sitting in the cab and I pretty much knew it wasn't going to be anything DRASTIC drastic. If it was my heart at all they'd just give me something, yadda yadda. But then I started thinking, "What if it ever was that bad? What if I get admitted, hell, what if I die?" And I thought, "Who would tell the girls?"

(ETA: The few guys on my FList, for this post you're Honorary Girls, K?)

I was imagining you all sitting there, wondering where I was and what was happening because no-one here in my RL knows you or how to contact you. If something happened to any one of us, how would the others know? She'd just not be online, and unless someone among her next of kin also knew us and how to find us, we might never even know.

That scared me. It scared me a hell of a lot. So what I'm thinking of is this;

I would like to be able to write down somewhere the RL contact details for some of you - just one or two - and I'd like to be able to have it written among my personal papers or in my wallet that if anything were to happen to me, you would be among the people notified. You'd be able to let other people online know what happened. You'd have my passwords and online accounts (LJs, GJs, sites, Photobucket, what have you) and be able to close them or look after them. And I'd like to be able to do the same for you.

My dearest hope is that we'll all still be tapping away here when we're in our 80s or 90s, but ... just in case.
