Misadventures in Orthodontics

Dec 09, 2009 09:53

It started because I was able to secure an emergency appointment due to a broken wire for ½ hour at 10:30am last Wednesday, which worked as it was after my earlier planned doctor’s appointment. Once there, the orthodontist decided that my teeth were rapidly progressing enough to skip ahead 8 wire sizes (what would normally be 12 week’s worth of ( Read more... )

Well, it was so awful it was either laugh about it or drink all day, and going back into work that night just made option 2 "a very bad thing".

I was quite, quite fond of whiskey as pain-relief/mitigation during my time in braces. My teeth moved quickly, as well, though not so swiftly as yours. I finished treatment a full year early. Braces went on 13th March 2006, came off 13th March 2008, instead of March 2009 as projected at the start of treatment.

If you like bourbon, I suggest you seek out Bookers. It's remarkably smooth for 126 proof. Swish it around a little before swallowing it before a meal, and you should be able to chew with less pain.

Your teeth look awesome, you are one of my inspirations for having this done. The bourbon tour you two took is still one of best vacation reads ever. Bookers? O'kay. I'll have to try a small bottle. The current shelf is stocked with Blanton's & Knob Creek.

Ow! Ew! *cringes*

Congratulations, you may now commence the squicktory dance. I'll be over in the corner curled up in a ball.

I would have thought the same if mine didn't move like this. Then again, my orthodontist is on a flat rate, so what do I know? It's nice to be already on the 'every six week's' schedule, but the nasty little rubber bands are *not* delicious.

I'm sorry. I never had braces (two full caps on my adult front teeth in second grade put the kibosh on that), so I can't relate, but the very last sentence had me laughing (with you, not at you, I promise)!

“Do you drink?” Indeed... XD

:-) No problem about laughing, what else could I do? It was that or cry in frustration trying to make up the missed hours at work. You are lucky to have wonderful teeth no matter what.
