Performance Contract and Jury Duty

Well, they finally released the project after all this time. It is getting pretty crazy trying to keep everything straight. I am glad that I created a spreadsheet to track each call, each visit, and each item a company requests. At first I thought it was just being OC, but quickly realized that it really helps due to dealing with over 6 companies on a project that will likely be $70 million.

I also got a jury duty request. Which would not be too bad except for one minor detail... It's for 200 miles away. They are nice enough to pay $18. Let's figure this shall we? I get 43 mpg and gas costs $3.40/gal. That works out to $0.08/mi times 200 miles = $16. So, on the $17.20 for the day, I can get there. Heaven forbid I be able to eat, park, or get back.

Edit: I called the phone number listed, but they would hear none of it. So, I have e-mailed them and hope they will be more helpful that way. Here's hoping. Something else I forgot to subtract is the federal and state taxes on the $17.20. It's not bad enough that one gets paid such a meager amount, then they tax you on it. What's the point of even getting paid?
