I think a better concept to aim for is "self-efficacy", rather than "self-esteem". I don't think it's a good idea to artificially inflate one's opinion of oneself, which is a pathway to complacency on one hand and let-down on the other; I've experienced both ends of this bargain. (I am led to understand that back in the 80s there was a big movement towards raising the self-esteem of children by any means necessary, and we might all be victims of this

I'm currently on the generic form of Paxil, and for my anxiety attacks I take the generic form of Klonopin. It IS helping, quite a lot, trust me.
And thank you for your advice, though I have also heard it from my former shrink (last seen this year) and my other friends. ;)
I have a lot more self-esteem now than I ever did - but I also think I'm a whole lot less depressed now than I ever was. Getting rid of the constantly down mood did a lot to eliminate those thoughts.
Not that it did everything to eliminate them, but as you said, that's where derailing "incorrect" thoughts come in. :)
