Deities, friends..
Big jump, big leap here. Some interesting things going on in the game I'm for sure. Some pretty bad things for our lovable, cuddly deities.. (Except for Moros - you prude.) And of course..dun dun dun, the scariness has finally come.
Hades is dead.
( Read Deities.com Thread ) Why, you may ask? Both In character and Out?
I'm a player who likes to explore new horizons. And this was something I tinkered with for a while. I'd have to say I was really disappointed with the original plan, and that was of course, the all out war. But bad things happen and people procrastinate and when shit doesn't get done a month later...well - it tends to make for bad roleplay. I was pretty upset with that fact. So, I decided to try again and I'm pretty pleased with how things are going, the involvement that everyone has taken upon themselves to put in is most appreciated. I want each and every one of you to know that I am most grateful for the cooperation going on in this story.
Now, to understand why he died in character. When Hades originally intended to start a war with Olympus, his plan was to stop all souls from entering the Underworld..even those of his own people so that he may safeguard his own land. In order to do so, he had a human child slain and bound part of his immortal soul to her in order to give her divinity. In the same sequence, he used Styx as a creative buffer to flood the underworld. Amenomi was the Flood. She'd only die when her soul was finally put to rest.
When things didn't go anywhere, I recalled the ideals for the plot but left the damage in play. Hades had dismissed her soul to Thanatos and gave her ashes to Styx's River so that she could finally be put to rest...however, he didn't consider unbinding his immortal link with the child and sent her soul to the afterlife. Because of it..a sickness slowly spread through him, eating him alive like cancer and causing Hades to lose all of his strength and powers. In order to undo the process, he would have to restore said portion of his soul.
Unfortunately for Hades, he did not figure out what was happening to him until the last moments of his life. Thanatos explained to him that he would continuously die and live like a phoenix until the process had been undone. So, when he felt the weakest, he called Persephone to him and shared his last few breaths with her.
So, now what happens?
Well, Hades will be reborn of course, but for the short time being he will be gone from their world. I would expect, for such a monumental event, that every deity close to him or at least with a sense of the world around them will be able to sense the repercussions of Hades death. I intend, by tomorrow, to have a post written out making the official announcement in character of his death. Then, everyone can feel free to respond as they please. Please, please please..if you have any questions I would love for you to comment here, email me at littleoneyahari@gmail.com or drop me an AIM at Tallania . Thanks guys, this should be grand.
