I think I may check out Book of a Thousand Days, and the retold faerie tale ones (is such a sucker for those). The last one, despite your low rating, looks interesting...probably only because of the word "politics". I love politics. =Dv

Yes, definitely check out Book of a Thousand Days--and once you fall in love with Hale's writing style, look for these other completely stellar books by her: Goose Girl, Enna Burning, and Princess Academy. :D :D
heheh-- well, like i said, those books aren't anything spectacular--but they're fun, and do have interesting bits.
although--if you reeeeeeeally like good, intriguing books with adventure plots and amazingly well-written political scheming, PLEASE read the Attolia trilogy, by Megan Whalen Turner. she totally blew me away with this series. i love it to death. :D

OOO: I'm pretty sure my school library has that series. My best friend has been re-reading it over and over all year - I just poked fun at her. XD I haven't actually read them myself.

i actually really like the talking-animal trope in fantasy books. :D i mean, Watership Down? so classic. oh, and the Firebringer trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce was like, my faaaaaaaavorite back in the day. (i think i even wrote my first fanfiction to that series, haha.) Talking unicorn society! wtfawesome, that's all i can say. ^-^
