I grabbed the bottle of Jager from beneath the passenger seat. Smiling I passed it to to the boy in the driver seat. We were all needless to say a little disappointed at the amount of liquor in the glass container.
"Aw dude, that shit tastes nasty." Bob exclaimed from the backseat. "It tastes like black licorice."
"I- I don't even like licorice, dude." I said casually opening up my mountain dew to chase it.
We all passed the bottle around, each of us taking two sips before passing it to the right. The last bit of it was passed to me and the beautiful boy staring at me from the front seat smirked.
"You can down the last bit." He offered smiling. Just that small expression gave me butterflies. I simply nodded, my dark brown hair floating carelessly into my eyes. I prepared myself for the sour taste that would soon inhabit my cheeks.
Exhaling silently, so the three boys wouldn't know my secret ritual i do before drinking, I tipped the bottle and threw my head back, swallowing the last of the wretched drink down. I quickly replaced the glass with plastic as a new sweet liquid filled my mouth. God bless mountain dew.
"Very good," Came a voice from my left, and as i turned my head i couldn't help but smile back at him. Yeah, i was a girl, and a socially awkward one at that, but i grew up with a brother. I knew how to be one of the guys. Frank then hid the bottle and stepped out of the silver suburban that was currently parked in a lot, not fifty yards from a booming bass.
"Are we leaving out coats in here?" Frank asked, looking around.
Ray shrugged carelessly and Bob asked, "Uh, do we need to?"
"Yeah dude, it's gonna get hot in there." I advised as if i knew what i was doing.
In all truth though i had never been to a rave and i was quite nervous. Frank was beyond gorgeous and way out of my league. A nerdy girl like me couldn't possibly score with a boy of such rockstar quality. None-the-less, as self conscious and nervous as i was i shed my sweater, revealing the torn up sirt i was wearing. It reminded me of an 80's rocker girl. The sides were cut and my shoulders exposed. A bit of cleavage was present. Along with my shirt i wore dark blue skinny jeans, and black converse. Too busy staring at my shoes, I didn't notice the eyes scanning me.
"Nice, niiice." Frank smiled at me as we walked towards the building. "Very sexy." I blushed, trying my best to hide it although my skin was pale and i could feel my cheeks warming.
"Thanks," I giggled nervously. "I uh, cut it up myself." I finished, feeling quite lame after that comment. Walking silently towards the seziures of lights and the deafening bass of trance music i felt fear begin to creep up on me. Words rang through my head.
"Personality is a big part of looks. If you're fun, they'll be more attracted to you." I began to panic. What if I'm not fun? I don't want to sit against a wall the whole rave... But i can't dance? What do i do? Oh no... Frank's gonna think I'm lame. Fuck. I dont have a chance with him anyways. Why did i even fathom the thought of us dancing together?
It was too late to return to the safety of the saburban as the darkness of the venue engulfed me. The four of us walked in curiously. Our eyes scanning different directions of the place. Glow sticks and lazers lit the vast area, as people everywhere danced. Some alone, some in couples or even threesomes. Lost in my doe-eyed examination, i was a little surprised to the loud voice that shook my thoughts.
"Where'd they go?" Frank asked raising his voice to a yell so i could simply hear him. Slightly confused, i looked around for our two companions. I leaned over matching my voice to his yell.
"Do you want to go find them?" I was taken back by the sound of my voice. It seemed to high pitched. Too... childish for my tastes. Frank nodded, not noticing the awkwardness of my voice. I began to follow him though the spaced out crowd in the back. I coundn't help but notice the way his black t-shirt clung to his muscles. He was wearing with it green and black vans, and loose fitting faded blue skinnyjeans.
We found Bob and Ray towards the center left. Close enough to the front to see the DJs and the people dancing, but far enough to not get hit by the swaying bodies. We stood with our arms crossed for awhile. Each of us nodding or tapping our foot to the beats. Frank was standing next to me, his arm brushing mine. Bob and Ray were about a foot behing us and to the left. Once again lost in watching the crowd sway, i was confused to see Frank turn out of the corner of my eye. He must've been saying something to the other two boys. Confused i glanced back to see our companions had disappeared. I looked to Frank, clearly uninformed on the situation. He smiled, quickly taking my hand, as he lead me to the dancefloor.
"Let's dance." He breathed into my ear.
I could feel myself shaking with every step. Quickly looking around i picked up what everyone else was doing. Frank pressed my back to his chest, arms around my waist, as we began to sway our bodies in unision to the bass. I placed my hands on his and let him lead. He buried his head into the crook of my neck and i smiled, taking his scent in.
When it came time for a switch in position i simply threw my arm around his neck, turning my body so we were chest to chest. Breathing heavily in the humid air. Everything smelt like sex and sweat, but I had no care in the world as our bodies crashed together. We moved to the beat for a minute or so, until i noticed Frank lifting his head. I could see him smiling, His eyes met mine, and in a moment of shameless ecstacy, our lips met. The motions of our bodies ceased and it was just him and I, standing still in the middle of a rave. Tongues, teeth and lips. The kissing seemed endless. A few careless dancers bumped us every now and again but his hands around my waist held me tight.
The bump to break the kiss however was a mocking, hard shove. Frank and i broke apart. Our lips partially swollen and slick with spit.
We turned to see Bob and Ray standing behind us simply beaming. Laughter drowned out by the persistent bass. Embarassed to have been caught, i buried my face in my hands. My cheeks were flushed and my heart was pounding. A soft voice, loud still, but gentle whispered in my ear.
"It's okay." I lowered my hands to see Frank smiling down at me. Not embarassed at all. It appeared to me he was actually laughing. He took my hand and we just stood there, smiling. My fantasies had come true.
