"Russell talking about liking ‘Breaking Bad’, and Jon spoiling it for people who haven’t watched further ahead. They also had a chat about the main character’s morals. There was a bit of banter, but Jon mentioned liking The Walking Dead, and when people cheered he said “Yes! Winning them back with The Walking Dead!” ( Yay! He has good taste in shows)
Russell telling people to watch Jon’s eyes (in the Cats episode where Jimmy was done for tax) when Louis Spence starts dancing- “It’s all in the eyes, the hate!” Jon talking about how he thought that week, with it being so serious, they would at least get the first half done without Louis starting a dance, but nope - round one, off he goes.
Jon living in a crappy bedsit when he was just starting out, and another comic coming round one night (with Russell) and saying he’d just done a charity show for starving kids “And you’re living like this!” Made me giggle.
Someone asked about the most extravagant thing they’d bought, and Jon said he’s about to move house soon, and will be having a room with a pool table. “Chicks dig pool, right?”
t started with the three of them discussing their first meetings and impressions of each other. Jon had been a ‘fruit flogger’, offering Russell a spare banana, and Russell had sided with Mark against a dodgy heckle. They all spoke a bit about their previous jobs (which only Mark had enjoyed) and the first time they had realised they had ‘made it’ in comedy.
Apart from that, there were lots of questions from the audience. Both discussed their TV work, with Jon saying that the only thing he’s really proud of so far is his OCD documentary. Russell talked about how he writes collaboratively for ‘Good News’, and Jon talked about only needing a few jokes for each topic for ‘Cats’. Russell said he doesn't watch ‘Mock the Week’ now (and I’m not sure, but I think the person who asked the question in the audience got mixed up the first time, and instead of MTW asked if Russell ‘ever watched 8 out of 10 Cats now and thought he was better than that’, which got a bit of an ‘oooh’ from the audience. I think the guy had just made a mistake though, and genuinely meant MTW).
Jon was pessimistic about most of the things he’s done, saying at one point that his book was a ‘pile of crap’ (despite the fact people in the audience said they liked it). He was also asked what he’d do if he was happy in a relationship and if it would affect his comedy, to which he replied that if that happened he would just go back to being a chef.
Jon was also asked about the ‘Road Trip’ and said out of all the things he’s done, it was the one he’d found most difficult to watch, and that, despite the fact he’d participated in everything, he could understand from the edit why people might think he didn’t enjoy it.
Overall, it was really relaxed and I enjoyed it. There was great banter between the three of them, and if they ever do another one I’d suggest you go!"
Room 101 S13E08 ( This was perhaps the most awkward thing I’ve ever seen on telly. I’ve never seen anyone just be straight out vicious to another guest.)
