2008 is the worst year ever.

So, on Friday my Dad had a meeting with his oncologist to follow up on his most recent week in the hospital.  The news was shitty.  the cancer has taken over his liver and is causing it to shut down.  We are looking at weeks at most, given his current state I'm guessing that's optimistic.  My dad will likely be dead before the end of January.

Rich wasn't feeling well on Christmas Day, nasty headache, aches, and sweats/chills.  He felt a little better on Friday and spent some time with the family, chasing the toddler while we dealt with Dad's news.  Saturday morning we were on our way back to my parent's house when he starting having horrible chest pain.  We drove straight to urgent care where they did an xray and an EKG, found an abnormality, and decided to treat him as if it was a heart attack (aspirin and nitroglycerin).

Further tests had to be done at the ER so he was taken to Methodist by ambulance where he had an echo cardiogram which showed that his heart wasn't pumping right.  They rushed him up to an angiogram where they found that there was no plaque buildup and his heart was technically okay, just slow.  It's only pumping out 45% of the blood it takes in, it should do 60%.  He spent the night in the cardiac ICU and goes back on Friday for an MRI.  The discharge papers say "heart failure - possibly myocarditis."  Yay.

My Dad has liver failure, my husband has heart failure.  I call life failure.
