Here are four zipped files of Korean rock... =)
(Every one else on my FL: feel free to leech! Anytime! Broaden your musical horizons. XD)
Seo Tai Ji ULTIMATE favourite Korean artist. XD He's a bit of a legend in Korea, and has influenced the music scene there immensely. He originally started out as a bit of hip-hop/rap (but, I don't have his early stuff... >.O), and now is a mix of rock/rap/metal/punk. His music's been compared to Linkin Park and Korn (he's actually friends with Jonathan Davis, I think). Anyways, these are a mix of songs from his latest two albums (Vol. 6 - Ultramania, Vol. 7 - Issue), and one of my favourite music videos. =)
Cherry Filter Cherry Filter is one of the few Korean rock bands/artists (um... maybe the only ><) with a female singer. Youjeen (the singer) has an amazing voice, ranging from rough and angry, to soft and playful. Their music is anything from pop rock, hard rock, and sometimes even some rapping. Unfortunately, I think they disbanded a couple years ago... =\
Youjeen also has a (more recent) solo career in Japan under the name 'Youjeen'. (I think she's produced by former Luna Sea member?) I also added one of her solo songs. =)
Nell LOVE them. Their music is more soft rock, with a bit of an 'indie' sound (if that means anything...). I believe they're produced by Seo Tai Ji and... I don't have much else to say about them. ^^;;
The TRAX Latest 'child' of the SM TOWN (which is normall known for their pop acts/boy bands). A rock group of youngsters, you could say, ages ranging from 18-20, I think. =)
Anyways, they have a bit of a 'visual' look, and Rose, the drummer, sometimes looks uncannily like Yoshiki from X Japan. Oh, and they're produced by Yoshiki, himself. =) You may have heard of them, they've been releasing Japanese versions of their songs lately.
They only have a few songs out, with a mix of hard/pop-rock sound. I don't know, for some reason I find it hard to describe it. Anyways, Jay has an amazing throaty voice which suits very well with the music. =)
And you also mentioned rap/hip-hop? As you probably know (from your Korea boy-band days =), pop music in Korea seems to often integrate rap into their songs (having members solely for the purpose of rapping). Weird and all... but it works? ^^ The first groups that come to mind are HOT and Shinhwa.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here's Shinhwa's latest(?) single, "Brand New". (original title, right? >.>)
Shinhwa - Brand New And there's also Bi (Rain)... Someone once compared him to Usher o.o (they've even met XD). Oh, and completely OT: he's REALLY TALL (like, 6'2" or something). o_O
Bi (Rain) - To You I remember hearing about a few Korean rappers (A female rapper named 'T' is the first that comes to mind... and she was pretty good). Hmm... now I want to find more...
Wheee~ First FO post! :O Bah. Screw FO. XD (I don't know... I don't like FO posts/etc that much... >.O)
