So I am watching an episode of "Moving Up" hosted by Doug Long, that metrosexual, perhaps gay designer made famous on Trading Spaces, on TLC and they are talking about this cute, two guy couple who are selling their townhouse and moving to a farm. As they tell the story of who they are, with their AE t-shirts and carefully plucked eyebrows, they keep flashing to the one guy sitting back on the patio while the other cooks up sausages on the BBQ. They are also renovating in jeans, a clever T and flip-flops.
So then they talk about how these two can live out their dream to become breeders on the farm. Oh, and they just added some oil to a wood bar top in their barn/party room, and so the host described them as "lubing up the bar".
It was then that I started to giggle. They have a "sausage fest" at the townhouse (what, no burgers?) and dream of being "breeders" in the country ... and are a gay couple of guys. Larry and Chuck should be their names. And does this say that such couples are so commonly accepted that these comments are being made innocently, or is there a writer somewhere with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour? This is another reason why the Writer's Strike is such a shame - those writers influence shows in so many ways, ones that are not immediately obvious. They deserve more, but at least a few cents of the DVD sales and internet downloads. Don't you agree?
Oh, and I MUST get tickets for "Fashionably Late". Perhaps when I go to NYC in March! I love Stacey London's catty comments and sense of style. Shut up!!
Gotta get ready to see Mo on stage now!!
