the witching hour

Funny story. I am in desperate need to do laundry (it's been probably a month, guys, lol), so I searched my closet for a shirt to wear, and I ended up wearing part of an old Halloween costume. It's the shirt I made to be Claire from Heroes two years ago, lol. Yes, today I am a Union Wells High School Wildcat. It even says "Bennet" on the back. XDD Whatevs, might as well wear it, I guess.

But that got me thinking that I've been meaning to post about potential Halloween costumes! With October right around the corner I better get my ass in gear. Last year I waited until the last minute and threw a pirate outfit together. It came out cute, but I want to be prepared this year. I need some help deciding. Yes, I take my costuming very seriously. XD

In order of when I thought of them, lol. With bonus pics!

Option 1: Tinkerbell.

I am told every year that I should be Tink, because I am tiny, I guess. I've been wanting to make a good Tink costume for a while now, not those random Amy Brown fairy costumes you see everywhere, but Disney Tink. The biggest problem would be me freezing my ass off. XDD

Supplies needed: A green leotard, fake leaves (so I don't look like I'm going to a dance recital, lol), green fabric to cut into the skirt (my mom and I have inherited my grandma's old sewing machine when she got a fancy new one, perfect for costume-making!), yellow hair spray, wings (have), green ballet flats, a shitload of sparkles.

Option 2: Sookie Stackhouse.

This costume would be soo easy. And comfortable. The bf says that I should be Sookie instead of Tink, because I can be Tink any year and people will always know who I am, but True Blood might be at the height of it's popularity right now, and people will know who I am. On the other hand, I don't want to be one of 20 girls dressed as Sookie. Hm.

Supplies needed: blonde wig (have), Merlotte's t-shirt (can buy online), black shorts or pants (have), black half-apron, vampire bites (they sell press on tattoos). Optional: waitress tray, bottle of TruBlood (they sell these too, lol, or I could fake it with water and food coloring), fake Southern accent (I'm all over it, lol).

3. Anita Blake.

I don't think any of you on my flist read the Anita Blake books. She is a vampire hunter and zombie raiser, and she rocks. This pic is from the new comics that are coming out (based on the books), and all the costumes I've seen online are based on the comic outfits, but I don't like it so much. I would be Book!Anita. It would look closer to this:

LOL that pic is awesome. This would be another super-comfy outfit. The biggest problem would be getting all the guns and knives. I've been looking around the Halloween stores, and most fake guns with holsters are revolvers or "cowboy" guns. And fake knives just don't come with sheaths, so I have no clue how I'd attach them to my arms. Also, next to no one would know who I was. Which is sometimes fun, because only the die-hard fans will get it.

Supplies needed: curly brown wig, black or darkwash jeans (have), black sneakers (have, although Anita doesn't wear Converse, lol), black or red t-shirt (easy enough to buy), black boots (have), ideally two handguns (I can spraypaint whatever I find black) with holsters, two knives in wrist-sheaths, a stake (I can stick it into my belt, maybe?). Optional: a bigger gun with a shoulder strap would be cool (they do make fake machine guns, but Anita uses a sawed-off shotgun), a bullet belt, a cross necklace (I'll probably buy a gaudy plastic one, lol), vampire bites, a plush penguin (if you read the books you wouldn't have to ask, lol).

4. Harley Quinn.

I don't sew. This costume is impossible. :((( Every year I want to be Harley, and I can never do it. A modern-version of the costume, more The Dark Knight than the cartoons, would be more do-able. Or even Arkham Asylum Harley:

*sigh* SOMEDAY I will spend a lot of money on a Harley costume. But not now.

Thoughts? I think Sookie will be the easiest, but kind of the least fun. I'm leaning towards Anita. Maybe this weekend I'll head down to the The Costumer (our local, year-round Halloween store) and scope out the gun situation.

What do you guys think? And, more importantly, what are you being for Halloween??
