What happens when I don't update LJ in forever? I have SO MANY THINGS to talk about. I will use cuts so you can choose to read what you want, instead of listening to all my babbling. Or, ya know, read it all and make me happy. :DD
FIRST OF ALL, I have been super busy with grad school. I am so happy that I quit my job (it ended in August anyway, because, y'know, summer camp...) because I would have no time to work full time AND go to school full time. I love 2 out of the 3 classes that I'm taking (yes, 3 grad classes is full time, which should tell you what the workload is like). The one I hate is fully online, and it's about RESEARCH and CRITICAL THINKING and BELL CURVES and a bunch of other shit that makes my brain hurt. I am doing every bonus point thing ever in this class, just so I have a grade-cushion. I am scared. XDD The other 2 are amazing, and are teaching me things that I actually want and need to know like how to be an English teacher OMG IT IS HAPPENING GUYS. I AM A BIG KID NOW. :DDD
ANYWAY, I have to do two big projects where I write lesson plans based on a book of my choice. For one class I'm doing The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman. omgg Neil ilu.
For the other class, I'm doing Hate That Cat, by Sharon Creech. It's an adorable little novel written in poetry and about poetry, and also appeals to the animal-lover in me. I am a nerd. :P So yeah, there's two book recs for ya. :P
Another reason I've been MIA lately is because my sister's bridal shower and bachelorette party are this weekend! WOO OMG. I've been planning these parties for MONTHS and they're finally here! They are going to be perfect and so much fun. I especially can't wait for the bachelorette party, because of course we got a stripper. That guy is going to make a KILLING in dollar-bill tips, let me tell ya. My other bridesmaid is surprising me on what outfit he's wearing...my suggestion was Batman, LOL I AM SERIOUS. XDDD Tomorrow I must do last minute shopping, plus do some ~naughty~ baking, ifyouknowwhatimean. :D~~~ DON'T WORRY, THERE WILL BE PICS. XDD
Two of my FAVE artists have new albums out this week! EXCITE. I was going to post some vids to the new songs, but I'll just give you links instead, because this entry is already a little overloaded, lol.
ITEM THE FIRST: Brandon Flowers (of the Killers) has a new solo album. At first I was freaked because I love the Killers, BUT he said in Rolling Stone that the band wanted a break and Brandon didn't because he wanted to stay "fresh," so he worked on this, and the band will have a new album out soon. Yay! The album is called "Flamingo," and here is the single:
Crossfire, by Brandon Flowers. SERIOUSLY, ONE OF THE CHEESIEST VIDEOS I'VE EVER SEEN. XDD But whatevs, Charlize Theron kicks ass and Brandon looks like a pirate, and there are NINJAS. A+ :P I have a real soft spot for ballads, so this song was instant love when I first heard it. And I think it sounds different enough from the Killers, which I like (I hate when singers from bands have a solo career and sound exactly like the band *cough*Chris Cornell*cough*Rob Thomas*cough*)
ITEM THE SECOND: Interpol has a new album out!! I believe it's self-titled (which is odd since it's their 4th album). I'm very much liking the new song:
Barricade, by Interpol. I admit that it doesn't have the OOMPH of some of their older songs (like "Slow Hands" or "Heinrich Maneuver"), but it reminds me of songs like "Narc" which still rock. It gives me high hopes for the new album, and it's about damn time too! The weird thing is, I don't think they played any new songs when I saw them a few weeks ago. TOO MANY GOOD SONGS, THEY SHOULD PLAY FOR 3 HOURS. XDD

Trippy video for Lights. This was the first single off the album. This video is odd, but kind of classic Interpol wtf-ness. They love dark crazy shit. :P
I must admit I had a serious case of writer's block for about a week and it killed me. I've been trying to work on my fics for schmoop_bingo, but I just couldn't get the sweetness out. I have a few half-started things that I put in a "scraps" folder, so maybe I'll use them eventually. The past few days I have redirected and now I'm almost done with my next prompt. I'm a little worried that it isn't "schmoopy" enough, but I think it works. It's a tad bittersweet, though. I just can't wait to get at least one bingo on my card so I can feel ~accomplished~ lol.
The odd thing is that going back to class has re-inspired me to write. Whenever I read good books I always want to write, it's weird. :P Anyway, I still have a now-very-old LOST fic to finish (I started this sucker before the finale even aired, lol). I think I need to just sit and read it from the beginning, because I've been stuck plot-wise. Which sucks because I already have an ending written. And I'm so close, I just need to get from where I am now to THERE, and still have it be believable. I need a plot-beta. Since it's LOST I always try to bet my bf into it, and help me think of ideas, but he just so doesn't get fanfic, lol.
But I think I've decided to complete that fic before I delve any deeper into my sideways!cop AU, which also needs some serious plot work. All these little bingo fics and drabbles keep distracted me from my big fics. Curse my inability to say no to a writing challenge. :((
