discombobulated

I am so beat, man. My first week back at work went something like this: first day, my only student went home early, third day we have a snow day, lol. Yet for some reason I am just so exhausted. Work is such a dirty word.

Anywho, I was going to go out tonight for a show at Lark Tavern, got all dolled up and ready, then opened the door to realize it had started blizzarding in the half hour since I was last out. Since I was going to not drink and drive home later in the night, when the roads would be still unplowed, I decided to stay in and eat. Stupid snow.

Hey, want some Oscar-nominated funness? Hans Zimmer is up for Best Original Score for Sherlock Holmes (I am praying to the movie gods that it wins, because the movie was so snubbed on the Oscar front), and they made a very silly music video to the main theme, "Discombobulate" (best song title ever, IMO). The song's pretty badass too, BTW. Below the cut.

OMG RDJ STOP BEING SO DAMN ADORABLE. ON SECOND THOUGHT, NO, NEVER STOP. EVER. XDDD This is probably the weirdest and silliest music video for a classical piece that I've ever seen, lol. Apparently the cello is now a percussion instrument? You break my brain, Hans Zimmer. Also, now I want a ukulele more than ever. :P

So reading all these Holmes books (I've now read the first novel, two short stories, and I'm onto the second novel...I cannot be stopped), watching clips of the movie on youtube (I need this dvd in my life YESTERDAY, kthx), and writing a hojillion Holmes fanfics (yup, I went there) I am rekindling my Victorian obsession, lol. It is the coolest, most badass period ever, and I've had a mild obsession with it for some time now. Victorian Lit was pretty much the best class I ever took at New Paltz, lol. I want to dress up in Victorian outfits SO BAD YOU HAVE NO IDEA. If only I had the money for a costume (the dresses are flippin huge, but hey, I'd wear dude's clothes if I get to wear a bowler hat) and a place to go cosplay, lol. XDD

This sparked a wild spree across etsy looking for vintage style jewelry. Check out this shop, Sea Unicorn. OMG I WANT EVERYTHING, IT'S ALL SO PRETTY AND DELICATE AND CUTE. Her lockets are just to die for, and I'm such a sucker for cute little trinkets, I really need to contain myself from buying so much jewelry from her. XDD Maybe when I get accepted to a grad school program (ANY DAY NOW, SAGE, GEESH) I shall treat myself to a little something. I always feel bad when I get jewelry from someone that's not my sister, lol. XD

Mkay. Time for bed.
