I haven't updated in forever, I had a very busy weekend of burlesque shows, trippy movies, long rides home at ungodly hours of the morning, romantic dinners, and strawberry daquiris.  Had a great Valentine's Day with the boy, ate way to much food, but it was oh so delicious.

Also, this was my last week at Crappy Job, and I am officially unemployed, and it feels so good, lol.  I really hope the girl replacing me is either a huge bitch or really stupid, lol.  The good part is that my sister can keep me informed of all the gossip, lol.  :P

Anywho, I've also been MIA on account of a new fandom obsession which is taking up a lot of my time.  Yes, weeks after seeing the movie I have decided that I am utterly and hopelessly obsessed with Holmes/Watson slash.  The amount of decent and well-written fanfic that has sprung up since the new movie was a delightful surprise to discover on the interwebz.

Of course I have started what will probably turn into quite a long fic (I am incapable of writing short fic anymore arrrrgh), but without owning the movie yet (it comes out on dvd next month omggg) and the boy not wanting to spend money on seeing a movie we've already seen in the theater, I have resorted to delving deeper into book-canon to become inspired...and also reading Holmes/Watson smut, AND I AM NOT ASHAMED.  XDD

I already had some of the books and stories (at least one novel and a book of the short stories, I believe) but they are packed away in the attic with my schoolbooks, and, silly me, I thought I wouldn't feel the urge to read them again so soon.  Little did I know at the time that a movie which such fiiiiine actors would be released, and plunge me into a new fandom that demands fic.  Also, there's an animal in the attic that I can hear scrabbling around above my room (I'm right below the attic), so there's no way I'm going up there, lol.

So, Borders coupons in hand, I headed to the bookstore to widen my knowledge of the characters and of Victorian London.  They did not have the hefty paperback version of The Complete Novels and Stories, so I was forced to buy Volumes 1 and 2 seperately.  But they have cool covers-- black and white scenes of London, complete with grittiness and men in top hats-- instead of the widely seen (until RDJ came along) vision of Sherlock in an unattractive hat, smoking a pipe and looking pensive.  Anyway, the two books will look lovely together on my bookshelf, and have nice scholarly introductions that I love to read, being an English nerd and all.  The one I've read begins: "I submit for your inspection one John H. Watson..."  and goes on to describe how poorly misrepresented the poor guy has been in movies and whatnot.  And really, Jude Law did such a great job with him (with little praise, it seems) that "reinventing" these characters was sorely needed.  I will not go into depth on how much I loooooved RDJ as Holmes, because I could ramble forever.  But he really deserved that Golden Globe for the performance, and he is snubbed on the Oscar front for not being nominated.  There, I am done now.

Anyway, I will probably write a few Holmes/Watson drabbles to practice.  If you are withholding a love for these two, now is the time to speak up.  I am open to requests and prompts and whatnot.  :D

To make this post more bearable (slightly), please to be enjoying a slashy vid beneath the cut. I've also posted this on facebook, so if you've seen it before...too bad, watch it again, it is sexy and awesome. XDD
