I'm not sure how many of you, if any besides
peace_piper are big eco nuts and stuff, but I hate it when people go around using terms and ideas to support their theories without even knowing what they mean.
Case in point: Last night we attended Al Gore's climate change presentation as done by Some Guy instead of going to Botany lab. He mentioned that large farms were bad, and that by using hydroponics and smaller farms, we could be better.
When question time came, I asked him first how we could feed everyone ever without big farms. He said small farms using greener practices. I asked him why the larger farms couldn't employ greener practices, and he said it was because when you put drip tubes in the ground, tractors run them over, making them inefficient. So I asked why large farms couldn't use hydroponics, and... he said because drip tubes in the ground get run over by tractors.
I tried asking him again specifically about hydroponics, and he kept telling me about drip tubes in the ground. DURHURHUR if you're going to mention hydroponics in your speech, at least know what it means. He sounded like a total retarded to me, my lab partner, and the woman sitting next to me who was a big buff too. Why? Because tractors and drip tubes in the ground have nothing to do with hydroponics, since it employs neither tractors nor ground.
What a fucking dumbass.
