Title: Cradle of Civilization
Team: Ryan
Prompt: If You Love Something, Let It Go. If It Comes Back It Always Was and Always Will Be Yours. If It Doesn't It Was Never Yours in the First Place
Pairing: Ryan/Baraka ... Uhm, what? Oh, yeah... Ryan/Brendon
Rating: NC-17
Summary: When an ancient device that has been buried under the sands of Egypt for thousands of years is uncovered, it brings with it more questions than answers, and for decades it remains a mystery until an extraordinary young man is brought in to solve what no one else has been able to. What is revealed is a gate between worlds, and a small group ventures through into the unknown where they are tossed headfirst into a struggle as old as the device itself. Through war and death and oppression and vast desert sands, maybe they will learn that some mysteries are better left as that. But there is also the chance, for one, to finally learn of the one thing that will make it all worth it.
Notes: A lot of the plans changed along the way, a lot of stuff had to be improvised due to that, and so this didn't turn out quite like I imagined, but I do hope it works nonetheless. This is a cross-over, more or less, at some points leaning strongly on the plot of Stargate the Movie, and at some times veering away from it entirely. There is nothing of the SG:1 or whatever series, which I've never seen, only the original movie and my own imagination. Thanks to A for the beta, to my lovely sister for the 'pyramids', and V for the banner.
