I seem to have committed a case of criminally short chatfic.falseconfettiApril 15 2010, 00:24:43 UTC
It's stupid, really.
Wearing his shirt isn't going to bring him back, and Brendon knows this. He feels like a heart-broken, just-desperate-enough teenager, trying anything to bring back an old flame, and he chides himself silently (pulling the shirt on; it stretches tight across his chest: of course; it's a shirt from, fuck, what, a decade or some ridiculous number like that?). It's pathetic. It's embarrassing. It's a comfort.
Brendon's just glad Spencer or Sarah aren't around to see him. Sarah would just laugh and roll her eyes, call Brendon a goof and strip the shirt off for him; Spencer, assuming he noticed (and he would; he has eyes like a hawk, particularly when it comes to Brendon), would grow quiet, and he'd capture Brendon in a hard, cold gaze before letting him scurry off to the bathroom and change.
He can acknowledge how idiotic and sentimental he must look, but it doesn't stop him from taking a picture of himself, trying to look as casual as possible, and posting it to Twitter for the world -- and Ryan, if he's so inclined as to check the site once in a while -- to see.
