Brent Warren III is by no means your garden-variety, run-of-the-mill teacher. A renaissance man of sorts, Warren has previously explored many different fields including music, writing, and most recently teaching. But then you probably knew the latter, for his face is quickly becoming familiar among the populace of Wimberley High.
Warren grew up and attended school in Houston where his former history teacher possibly inspired his future teaching career. This teacher showed him that a class could be more than just facts and figures; it can actually be fun. Although this classroom philosophy would lie dormant for years before Warren realized his teaching profession, this way of thinking still shines through in his classes to this day.
On a different note (pardon the pun), Warren also became involved with music at this time. Warren was greatly influenced and inspired by classic country musician Merle Haggard, and became interested in a variety of music styles including country, blues, and swing.
Warren attended college at Texas State University where he received an English major. After graduating, he eventually realized the sad fact that he couldn’t sing. Thus, he gave up on the life of a musician and decided to pursue a career in education.
Warren completed his student teaching at Wimberley High School during the 2004-2005 school year. He now teaches English IV and Creative Writing. He enjoys this occupation because it provides him a chance to interact with writing students one-on-one and help improve the clarity of students’ ideas.
In addition, he is also co-sponsor of the newly formed Psychology Club. He opted to take this extra-curricular position simply to be helpful; this demonstration of Warren’s eagerness to assist the student body in and outside of class is only one of the reasons why he is readily accepted by students and faculty alike as an important addition to high school culture.
In his free time Warren reads, and writes poetry and short stories. And although it is no longer his profession, he also continues to play music whenever he is able to. All this stated, one can conclude only one thing: Mr. Warren, quite literally, rocks.
