Virginia was super-fun. It would take forever to give a detailed description of the whole thing, so here are some highlights:
- Seeing Curtis (first and foremost, obviously)
- Finding "our" song
- Seeing, at the Smithsonian, Archie Bunker's chair, a pair of ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" (the pair Judy Garland wore for dance numbers, since they had felt bottoms and so wouldn't make noise on the yellow brick road), Fonzie's jacket, puppets from "The Dark Crystal" and "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas," the first version of Kermit the Frog, Jackie Kennedy's (fake) pearls...and on and on
- The National Gallery sculpture garden! I like art, it makes me happy.
- Cooking with Curtis--actually cooking, not just cutting up vegetables (I know how to make a mean stirfry now!)
- Benihana in Georgetown: I'd never been, it was quite entertaining, as well as delicious
- The giant fountain near the sculpture garden in D.C. In the winter, it's an ice rink, but in the summer it has about 10 fountains, as well as ducks, and you can dangle your toes in the water, which is quite pleasant
- I got out of Bloomington!!! Finally.
I have pictures of most of the above on Facebook. The Smithsonian ones are on Curtis's camera, but they'll be posted as soon as I get them.
In other news...
I got my summer course grade: A!!! I was expecting something more like an A-, so I was pretty psyched when I found out (ok, I still am). It was a really hard class, so I'm extra proud.
Curtis has a job finally! Hooray! I thought it might never happen.
I'm really at loose ends now. I should get G.R.E books soon. And maybe learn to drive. Hmm...
