Well, that went well!
The back story:
I'm pregnant with my first child, but am stepmum to three lovely kids (aged 3-7) from my partner's first marriage. We get along quite well, all things considered, and it helps that they're so young. Their mum can be a bit... difficult, and when we told her about the baby, insisted that the children would be devastated and traumatised, and we'd better be prepared to pay for therapy*. She also insinuated that I would mistreat the kids now I had a blood-child as well as my 'bonus' kids, but that's neither here nor there.
Well, we told the kids today, and they were all thrilled, from oldest to youngest. I'm *so* relieved, and happy, both that they're glad and that now all the Important People have been told, and it doesn't need to be a partial secret anymore.
*So it really didn't help that their last phone call to mum was ALL about how excited they are to have a new baby sibling. Oh dear.
