How Ferdinand Marcos changed Rock music history forever.

"Joey Santiago was born in Manila, Philippines, on June 10, 1965, the third of six sons of an anesthesiologist. The Santiago family was one of the wealthiest and most powerful in the Philippines. In 1972, however, when President Marcos declared martial law, the family immigrated to the United States."
So if Marcos hadn't declared Martial Law, Joey's family never would have immigrated to the US. Joey wouldn't have met Charles Thompson (Black Francis) in college and influenced him to rock music and form a band with him. The Pixies never would have happened. It's a fact that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is Nirvana shamelessly ripping off the Pixies. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" wouldn't have been written, and would never have spearheaded the whole alternative rock movement in the 90s, that would later spawn the indie rock movement of the present.
