Holy lord.
Ok, dance is awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Saturday I managed to get the day off both jobs and jaunted down to Manitou Springs to go to the U of S Ballroom Dance Club Ice Crystal Ball(phew. . . say that ten times fast) being held in Danceland. I've never actually been down that way so the plan was for me and Katie to spend the night at the spa. That way, we don't have to leave two hours early on the bus, nor would we have to worry about a middle of the night drive back to Saskatoon after dancing for six hours. Sadly Katie got the wrong weekend off so she couldn't make it. Sad times.
The hotel there is nice
and I managed to get a room overlooking the lake.
Mind you it IS winter so there was much more than snow topped trees and a large open snow field(the lake in other words), but it was still pretty.
Danceland was absolutly amazing. It felt like a barn dance at times. First a wonderful buffet dinner. The lemon chichen was sooo good and so moist. Mmm, my mouth is watering all over again. The floor is made of a subfloor, then dozens of tightly wound bales of horsehair, then a hardwood floor on top of that. It allows the floor to have some give, and when doing a polka that makes all the difference!!! During the dance they played Cadillac Ranch by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and about forty people lined up for a line dance. Forty people doing the same steps at the same time, yeah, you could definately feel the floor moving then. It was quite cool. I even got to test out my new digital cameras video capabilities. I think it turned out quite well:

That is John and Michelle doing a Jive.
Back in the hotel I promptly fell asleep and woke up relatively early to soak in the mineral pool. It was so weird to go into the deep end, 9 feet deep, and a)not see the bottom, and b)not sink. "Yay! I can go in the deep end with all the big people now!!" Totally felt nice after a long night dancing. There were quite a few dance friends there too so we hung out, went for brunch buffet before driving home.
Now I'm officially in Dance Team. The dance this term - Jive Swing. After one night my core is hurting big time. YAY! So I immediately came home and weighed myself. 187(ewwwww). Ten more weeks of intense dancing(because it's a jive to Robert Palmer and I'm pretty sure I'll be a few pounds lighter at least) This is the song. Warning. . . . it's a bit 80s like.
