I REAAAAAAAAALLY DON'T LIKE THESE ;A; and this isn't finished, it's for
1sentence if I ever actually finish the freaking prompt table and - anyway.
I actually did #27 first. OTL it just - popped into my head GODDAMN ALL THE ELRICEST SHIPPERS ON MY F-LIST WHAT ARE YOU DOING I AM SUPPOSED TO BE A SLIGHTLY NORMAL SHIPPER
1. air
Fall, and the air grows chillier; "If we stand closer together, we'll be warmer," Alfons says, nervously, but the other boy doesn't mind at all.
2. apples
It's not as good as Winry's apple pie (really, it's a little burnt and funny-tasting and there's too much sugar in it) but it's worth lying and telling him it's great just to see him smile like that.
3. beginning
They met by reaching for a book on physics at the same time, and Ed sulked for the rest of the day when he realized it had been the library's only copy.
4. bugs
"Don't look now, but there's a gigantic spider on your back- I'm kidding, I'm kidding, Alfons, don't scream like that!"
5. coffee
It seems to Alfons that there are only three things that make Ed truly happy - coffee, food, and him.
6. dark
The streetlamps outside are out, and he can barely see his own hand in front of his face, but he still knows exactly how Alfons looks right now - head tilted slightly to the side, smiling in that faint way he does when he's happy and no one's looking - and then, of course, he mentally smacks himself for remembering these details; what is he, a lovesick idiot?
7. despair
It's all Alfons to do to keep from saying something that would probably come out horribly cliched and trite and - all he can do is wrap his arms around the younger boy and wish that, somehow, he could absorb some of his sadness, that he could find a way to keep him from hurting.
8. doors
That door is closed now, he tries to tell himself, you'll have to find another place to call home eventually - even if it is just a tiny third-floor apartment with a terrible view.
9. drink
The alcohol must be going to his head - he could have sworn he saw a flash of gold in those clear blue eyes.
10. duty
"I promised I'd take care of you, Edward," Alfons says, grimacing a little- "... even if that does include letting you throw up all over my shoes."
11. earth
"Then why doesn't everybody fall over?" Ed asks, doubtfully, staring at the ground as if it's about to spin out from under his feet, and all Alfons can do is laugh.
12. end
He promises himself that he won't count down the months, weeks, days he's got until - he doesn't want to think about it - but sometimes he'd like to know, because he's afraid of dying with so many things he never told Edward.
13. fall
"Well, excuse me for not knowing ice was that slippery!"
14. fire
It hadn't been his fault that Alfons had (carelessly) left the kitchen window open right before it had rained, but really, if he was supposed to light the stove with a box of wet matches- "Where's that bastard Colonel when you need him..."
15. flexible
"Would it kill you to be a little more flexible about the coffee? They're not always going to have the exact same sort, you know..."
16. flying
It's ironic that Ed interrupts his studies this way; somehow, kissing him reminds him more of flying than anything involving rockets ever has.
17. food
Ed attempts to make him dinner one night; it's a disaster, and Gracia invites them over anyway, so the thick clouds of black smoke filling their kitchen will have time to be aired out.
18. foot
"Well, of course they think you're younger than you are- you're almost a foot shorter than me-" "I am not!"
19. grave
On the anniversary of her death, Ed sleeps, or pretends to, the entire day away, thinking of a gravestone somewhere far away and unreachable and how he'll never leave flowers there again.
27. metal
His lips, Edward thinks, taste like blood - almost like iron...
