It would be so easy to break him.
So many ways to do it. It could be his beloved little brother's form you take, telling him he didn't try hard enough, that I knew you couldn't save me, brother as he stares at you with those wide, disbelieving eyes, his last breath a choked "no-"
Or his mother.
Or that girl, his childhood friend or what the hell she was, what was her name- that sickening smile of hers- the thought that anyone could be that goddamn happy makes you almost ill.
But you won't. Not yet. You'll play with him a while longer, because as much as you hate to admit it, he's - not more interesting - more fun than the others. Because he fights back, returning two kicks and punches for every one you throw at him.
Because underneath all that fucking posturing about good and evil and what's right and his stupid black-and-white mentality, maybe he's more like you than he thinks he is.
When you mention it, his first response is denial. "I'm not like you, you bastard-" are the exact words he uses, before you cut him off.
"Right. Like you're not the one who hits first-"
"Shut up."
"Like you don't enjoy seeing me bleed as much as-"
"Shut up!" he snarls, teeth clenched, slamming you back against the wall. "Don't talk about me like I'm some sort of- a sick, twisted freak like you!"
(Don't act like you're not getting off on this, you think, judging by the way he's pushing against you and that certain, now familiar shortness of breath, but it's really better not to interrupt him when he's like this unless you want an automail fist to the face.)
"I'm not like you," he says, but the conviction's gone and you could swear his voice was almost shaking, and that's why he's too interesting to kill now.
He's a mass of contradictions, and you love pushing him toward that line between hero and villain.
You want to be the one to push him so far he finally-
snaps.
