I've always wanted to pair these, but was ignorant on just HOW I SHOULD. Hah this is old, chyeah.
She was always watching him- ever since he'd first died she had been. Watching
his various expressions, the way he held himself, his bad boy mannerisms, and
the way he began to mature with time. Even when he'd become the leader of the
Tantei, she was still watching over him. No one noticed, of course - it's not
like she'd been acting any differently. She would still smilem wave, nod, act
cheerfully and do all of the other sorts of things she would normally occupy
herself with. Nothing stood out, and she was almost content with this. Rumours
had even begun stirring about about herself loving the Reikai prince. She'd
always sport a blush when this topic was brough up; give a small smile and a
nervous laugh, and eventually turn the other way. Yes, she was almost conetent
in living with this lie she was so good at living. She was.
She was, at
least, until he began to take notice.
It started with the small things.
He'd begun to realize just how much time she was always spending around him, job
related or no. How she was always smiling, and bubbly, and offering her help and
what he suspected could be more. Every time he would shrug it off, take it just
as another little extra something that had happened that day. After all, why
should he dwell on something that may not even exist? But then her movements
became less than subtle, and a tad bit more than just friendly.
But, he had
to admit, it wasn't only her.
They both played it off, of course, as
nothing. The accidental brushes of their bodies, a small motion of the lips, a
misplaced hand... She'd always just mumble an excuse and smile knowingly, and he
would always just tease her in response as a note of mischeif flickered breifly
accross his features.
But soon, such accidents became less accidental;
and the flickering emotions had become much more powerful surges of desire, and
nothing seemed to matter when it came to such thoughts of innocence anymore.
Soon, it was a tangle of heated limbs rolling around the floor of a Reikai
storage room, and nothing was innocent or accidental about it.
"Can we do
this?"
"Nope."
Clothes were removed in another rush of movement, lips
caught one anothes, and both were soon panting in the others respective
embrace.
"We should stop..."
"We should, shouldn't we?"
Hands
roamed over exposed skin, feeling every curve as each of them memorized the
others body. She took in a shaky breath, and spared herself a weak smile. He
smelt ofhot sweat, and soil, and maybe even of blood from their recent encounter
with a demon. She managed to press herself back against a filing cabinet propped
up behind her, regarding him wearily; the filing cabinet stood rigid against her
back.
It probably wasn't the only thing.
He smirked at her, before
wrapping his arms around her waist, and propping her up in his lap. He still had
a thin pair of boxers on, and she almost pouted at this. He ignored it, noting
how her hair was wild and let down and how she seemed almost un-touchable under
the dim glow of light that shown from beneath the door. She locked his gaze with
her own, held still by all the emotion that was held in those umber hues of his.
It was a pity that she couldn't even begin to identify any of them.
She
flinched as a box behind them toppled over, landing by the door.
".. any
of this.. We really shouldn't"
"You're right. I shouldn't do
this either."
She looked at him in question, and he just smiled,
leaning down and englufing one of her breasts in his mouth. And even though she
shouldn't have, and possibly couldn't have, and even though it would be the end
of the world as she knew it if anyone found out...
She allowed
it.
Because it didn't matter if the things that began to happen after that (
the moaning, and the groaning, and the silent cries of names upon eachothers
lips) were against the rules, un-innocent, and far away from being an accident.
By the end of it, she was curled up next to him, her ear against his chest as he
slept soundly. She watched him while he slept, just as she'd been watching him
for as long as she could remember.
And nothing could or should have
mattered anymore.
And nothing did.
