I had a pretty good day today. It was sunny, which was shocking 0_o The weather has been so bad I am starting to think that War of the Worlds is not just a movie, and that aliens are going to attack us via blocking our sky vision by clogging it up with clouds and rain. Then they will descend through the clouds and kill us by surprise:) Ok, that is a slight exaggeration, but really, horrible weather. Does not feel like summer.
Anyways, sunny day blah blah, so I did some yard work, went for a lovely walk and wore a skirt instead of pants. Was a nice change. Chester had to go swimming because he was far to hot and I hate it when he pants that hard... skeery.
Kendra has been teaching me how to make textures tonight:) So far I have made three, but I only like two of them so I think I will discard my first attempt. I will post some soon when I have more to show. She is a good teacher XD
And WTF is up with the shark attacks lately? Ok, two in three days, but that is a large number compared to normal. I have the!fear of sharks and these stories have been giving me the shivers like you would not believe. Bloody things... they should have stayed in the prehistoric era and stayed out of our oceans *whimpers*
I was just reading an article about some big name music artists winning a suit in court to sue P2P companies that do not pay the artist. I can see how that would irk people to have their music shared for free, but honestly? Coming from my stance of being poor, they are still making a shit load of cash from their record sales and well... they are not losing enough money to make it not worth their time to produce music. A lot of artists support file sharing and are putting "This artist supports file sharing" logos on the backs of their CDs to spread the P2P love. I think a good way for an artist to get their fans to purchase their actual CDs is to make them really cool. Like, put bonus features on the CDs kind of like on DVDs, but make it so that the bonus features would be hard to "share" on P2P networks. I am all for buying CDs that have extra love in them because it is actually worth my money then. Call me a pirate, but I am not going to go buy an album that only has the music, and most times I don't like all the songs. The only artist I ever purchase albums with is Linkin Park. I am too broke to buy every CD from every artist I like. I am sure there has to be a better solution for both sides. The artists and the fans. Some artists are finding ways to do it, so I am sure it is quite possible. Time for the CD industry to evolve. Again with the DVD factor. I never bought VHS movies, I just rented them. But I buy DVDs for the bonus features and (rawr @ moth flying around my head and screen!DIE!) extended versions etc. They are more worth my money:)
I am not for theft, but if you make your art worth paying money for, the theft will be less. It is like my graphics and whatnot. If people want to use them, all they have to do is ask and then credit and all is well. There are polite ways of getting things free:) I guess music is different of course, but still. Make it worth our money mmmkay?
I am too tired to be writing. Time to go to bed. I have my job interview at Rogers Video tomorrow. Wish me luck? :P
