Yeah, that's so sad, but it doesn't surprise me. I think the key to explaining it is that while it's no longer socially acceptable to say out loud "I would never vote for a black man," many people somehow feel quite comfortable saying "I would never vote for a Muslim."

Yeah, that is a good point. It definitely has to do with racism, whether it's because he's black or because they actually think he's Muslim.
I guess it makes me feel a little better.
