I can't imagine getting paid for being surrounded by lovely books.
Yes, there IS some work involved, but I really love it.
There are other perks as well....
I often have patrons, usually older ones, hang around my desk to chat...
one in particular, Jakob, is about 78/79...from Holland, I believe...beautiful accent..he's always walking in with a smile on his face, and twinkle in his eye..
he often teases me about various things, (some inappropriate)but he never bothers me..I really like him..
He came up to me the other day and basically told me that we had known each other in another life...
I thought he was teasing me again because he often comments about our names "Jakob" and "Racquel"- like Jacob and Rachel in the Bible.....so I thought he was joking again..but no-he was very serious. He said we are always so happy to see each other whenever he comes in, & when we talk, it's as though we have known each other for a very long time...he went on to explain that although his wife(2nd wife) does not believe in reincarnation, he knows that we(he & I) knew each other before this life..he saw the cynical look in my eyes so he said he wouldn't force me to believe it, but that he's been on this earth almost 80 years and in that time he said one can recognize another person from their previous life, if they allow it...
I told him that although I DID feel a special type of connection with him, I believed you only lived once..I wish it were possible..and there have been times (only a very few) where I met a person and instantly I KNEW who they were..(Emm-you especially) but I let him know that I wasn't freaked out or anything by what he said..he left with a smile and said for me to think about it..
I know I don't believe in reincarnation, but I also know that I have a connection with only a very few people like this...so although my beliefs are not shaken, I am often curios about situations like this.....hmm...
