Cooking With Steve

While I don't normally like to cook, I do occasionally indulge.
With that in mind, found a six pack of small steaks at the store, proceeded to do some grillin for the Fourth. As always, this is yet another invention of SilentSteel

Marinade:
1 cup Orange Juice
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Garlic
1/2 Tbsp Black Pepper.

Mix into glass pan and place steak. If meat is not completly submerged, add water until it is.
Stick in fridge and let set for two days.

On cooking day, prepare a baste of:
1/2 cup water
1 cup Olive Oil
1 Tsp Pepper Blend (McCormick [I believe it is] "Hot Shot" blend works well for this.

Grill to preference

Served with:

I decided to try baking the potatos over the grill this time so I found a recipie online.
Get a sheet of foil large enough to completly wrap the potato.
On the sheet pour: 1 Tbsp Olive Oil and then add a generous amount of Lemon Pepper Seasoning.
Smear mix all over potato and then wrap tightly in foil.
Throw them onto the grill about 5 minutes or so before the meat. Rotate when flipping the meat.
Serve with butter or margerine and ground black pepper. Add Garlic Salt if you want.

Notes:
Next time I do this marinade, will cover pan with saran wrap.
Steak was about two to three minutes on a side. Two minutes would be better.
Baste could have used less olive oil, since brushing it on created flare ups.
I'd put the potatoes on at the same time as the meat and we wound up having to microwave them.
It was served with orange jello and Chocolate Doom Cake. silentsteel and yetanotherbob just about had a foodgasm.

Final Grade: A+, will make again.
