The Staten Island Expressway can DIAF... or Cook @ Borgata Part 2

Sep 28, 2009 09:35

No seriously, it can. I went to the Cook show @ the Borgata Saturday night and it took me FOUR hours each way, when it really only takes about 2 1/2 hours. You wanna know why? Because the damned SI Expressway is a parking lot. Never fails. There's also this ~construction on the NJ Parkway that will never end, yet makes people slow down to a crawl anyway.

But OMG do I love the Borgata. The beds are comfy, THERE'S A PHONE IN THE TOILET ROOM, the towels are nice and big and fluffy, and the showers don't suck.

DID I ALSO MENTION THE PHONE IN THE TOILET ROOM??

... Yeah it doesn't take much sometimes.

And even though I had like an hour to kill when I finally got there, I didn't gamble. IDK, I just don't have the urge to gamble AT ALL. Even if I'm staying in a casino. Meh.

Since I didn't yet have the experience of the epic that was a SANE pit @ Nokia, I decided to get an actual seat for the show. I maybe regretted it a little when I finally got to the Events Center because the seats? Are kinda far in the back. The floor is this WIIIIDE open space and then there are the seats. Could I have probably sneaked into the pit and no one would be the wiser? Probably, but I didn't feel like doing all that standing. And besides, my seat was at perfect height to get the stage framed at eye level in my camera without having to raise my hand too high. I got sooooo much video/banter it's kinda crazy. Didn't get a butt load of pics this time... I think it's because of where I was sitting. The NYC concert was soooo EPIC for me, that I just wanted to capture video and just watch, since barring some miracle, it's probably the last time I'll see Cook before he goes on break to do his second record.

Tonic was wiiiiierd. I couldn't tell you who the names of any of the guys in the band were, cause they just kept on playing and playing... and except for the two songs I know by them ('If You Could Only See' and... whatever the name of their "current" single is) all their songs sounded the same to me. I did want to have ~sexy tiemz with the guitarist who was on the left hand side of the stage though. YUMMY.

So they get off the stage and we get more filler music. Started with RHCP's Higher Ground which I love to bitty pieces for some reason. Seriously though, who picks the music for before show and "intermission"? Cook or the venue? Also, WHAT IS THE NAME OF DAVE'S TOUR MANAGER??? I forget it every.single.damn.time.

Cook and the BOUH (don't want to call them the Anthemic *sticks out tongue*) get on the stage... and I swear there was a weird energy to the start of their set. It wasn't electric... but weird. Dave and Neal were going off on some CRAZY ASS rifts; Kyle was bashing the SHIT out of his kit, like all hyper bunny... and when did he get a new kit? Every time I see the boy he's got a new kit. Does he wear them out or something?

They evened out by fourth song in (wow do I suck at remembering set lists without a crib sheet), but Dave was definitely feeding off the crowd. Didn't do SO many crazy antics like in NYC... but the way they played was definitely reflected in how hyped up the crowd was.

I can remember he did 'Lie' like he's been doing it, where it's just his voice doing one of the chorus verses, but there were these two guys who wouldn't shut the hell up, so Dave ended up just doing it when it was quiet enough.

'Come Back to Me' was fun cause the audience just started singing it and Cook kinda mentally said "Fuck it" and let the audience sing the first half of the song while the guys played the melody.

And he did 'Hot for Teacher' again. I've seen him three times and he's done HfT TWICE. Didn't do any spitting trick this time though *sad face*.

Encore was 'Kiss on the Neck' with the 'Hotel California' interlude. I SOOOO DESPERATELY want to hear Dave do all of Hotel California. Like sell-my-first-born desperate.

Last song of the night was ADAM... and this is where it gets cute. Not that Cook talking about the five year old (Ben) he spent the day with from Make-a-Wish WASN'T cute (oh yeah forgot to mention that *cheeky smile*), but... he brought this girl up on stage to sing the "ooooh ahhh" part of ADAM. At first no one knew it was her he was waving too... but they eventually figured it out and she scampered onto the stage. Kyle also threw away his sticks at the end of the show... one to each side. LOL.

After the show I dropped off most of my crap (I caved and got the poster) and then stayed down in The Living Room for a little while to see if the guys "just so happened" to pass by. But after I saw Neal's tweet about "being a good boy tonight" and having the sneaking suspicion they probably had to go on the bus to go the next stop... I bailed. Got a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frap and went up to my room.

But as I was ~stalking, the cutest thing happened on the couch next to me. This guy proposed to his girlfriend. He just kinda did it, and she had a quiet freak out going "yes, yes, yes, OMG OMG OMG." I just had a dopey smile on my face while it was going on.

I'm gonna post my vids and junk later. It's a bunch, mostly concentrating on the banter. Like the Kris name drop... or that fact that you shouldn't mess with the sound guy...
