So you know David?

Feb 27, 2009 12:50

Who: Pandora, Kvothe
What: They meet in the library and discover that they both know David Talbot.
When: February 22nd 2009
Rating: General

Kvothe : *in the library, most likely, either browsing the shelves or sitting in the window even after the sun's gone down*

Pandora : *a very common spot for Pandora, she probably comes by to pick up and drop off books on a regular basis. Right now, though, she's in the row next to Kvothe, singing softly to herself and looking for a particular volume*

Kvothe : *looks up when he realizes she's there and watches her for a moment over his book, something about her is familiar. should only take a few moments for him to realize she reminds him of David*

Pandora : *only in that she is vampire, since they aren't related at all, but she does have olive skin since she was burned by the sun, though. Feeling observed, she turns to look at the man who --- is thinking of David Talbot? How intriguing.* Good evening.

Kvothe : *well, yes, of course it's the vampiric traits. there's probably something about the way of moving, or the nature of her skin, or something.* Good evening.

Pandora : *yes, of course - unnatural beauty, if anything* I don't think I've ever met you before. *smiling, closed lip to hide the fangs*

Kvothe : I don't believe we have. *rises, to offer her his hand* My name is Kvothe.

Pandora : *takes it, however briefly - her hand is cold, of course* Lydia. Please, do not rise on my behalf.

Kvothe : *the feel of her hand reminds him again of David's* I think it's polite to do so.

Pandora : It is indeed. *a bit of a closed lip smile* You have impeccable manners, sir. *god, David everywhere, this is so odd* *oh, damn* *widens the smile, just to show a hint of fang, not menacing, though*

Kvothe : *notices the fang, and that confirms it for him* I find that it's often better to. Especially when dealing with vampires? *it's just a slight questioning tone, an out for her if she doesn't want to acknowledge it*

Pandora : *she sits in front of him, tilting her head curiously* Only when dealing with some, I would say. *she has a bit of amusement in her golden eye*

Kvothe : Perhaps I should specify, vampires that I do not know.

Pandora : *a bit of a smile* Yes, it is a good specification.

Kvothe : It's been some time since I've met a vampire here.

Pandora : *head tilt* There are not so many here, just now. Most of them live outside, I'm told.

Kvothe : Do they? *pause* I don't suppose you've heard of a man named David living outside the mansion?

Pandora : Is that David Talbot you are refering to? *being polite more than anything, she knows he is, but*

Kvothe : *she'll hear a bit of he from him* That's right. It's been a while since I've seen him.

Pandora : *a bit of he?* *a wider smile* I haven't seen him since I came, but I heard that he no longer lives at the Mansion. Were you close friends?

Kvothe : *hope, dammit keyboard, stop making me jump around and screwing up my typing* I'd thought that might be the case. I suppose you could call us that. *a bit of a smile, they argued more than one might have expected from 'close friends' but Kvothe considered him so*

Pandora : *smiles, a little* As we were, though he called me another name, at the time.

Kvothe : What did he call you?

Pandora : Pandora. *softly*

Kvothe : Pandora. *smiles* If I'm fortunate enough to encounter him again I'll know what to call you. Have you been here long?

Pandora : A bit over six months, in fact. *smile* There are others - do you know them at all?

Kvothe : I'm afraid not, I don't really know any of the others.

Pandora : *nods* I really barely ever see them either. *except Marius and Lestat. gah*

Kvothe : I didn't know that there were so many. Are they relatively new arrivals, or have they been here for some time now?

Pandora : They've been here longer than I - but they don't live here.

Kvothe : Which I'm sure is why I haven't seen them.

Pandora : Likely so. *a headtilt, and a friendly closed-lip smile* Tell me, how was David, last time that you saw him?

Kvothe : He was well. That was months ago, though.

Pandora : *nods* I heard that he got married, did you know that?

Kvothe : Yes, I did. To Nikki, though I didn't know him as well.

Pandora : ..... *pause* To Nikki?

Kvothe : Yes. Did you know him as well? He was a talented violinist as I recall.

Pandora : I'm afraid I've not had the pleasure. *perplexed, though* is he a vampire as well?

Kvothe : Oh, no, he was human.

Pandora : Oh, I see. *smiles* I suppose they met here, then.

Kvothe : *nods* I suppose they did, I didn't ask then and I suppose there isn't a chance now.

Pandora : Perhaps they will visit on occasion. Lestat does, and Marius did, until recently. *note to self: ask Lestat*

Kvothe : Perhaps. They haven't yet.

Pandora : *nods* Would you like me to tell you, if I have news? I do go to the Talamasca, on occasion.

Kvothe : I'd appreciate that, thank you.

Pandora : *nods* of course. *sighs* I miss David. He made me do the maddest thing, that one.

Kvothe : *amused liptwitch* Yes, he does have a way of doing that.

Pandora : *one eyebrow* to you as well?

Kvothe : *chuckles* You could say that. *considering that allowing a vampire to bite you can be considered a /very/ mad thing to do, yeah. Also had a way of prying information out of Kvothe that he doesn't want to tell*

Pandora : *heee! Indeed, to both, actually* Ah, David. The most unusual vampire one could meet, truly.

Kvothe : *nods* And one of the most unusual people. *but it's amused*

Pandora : That as well, though I daresay, most vampires are not ordinary folks to start with.

Kvothe : I couldn't say much about that, David and now you are the only vampires I've knowingly met.

Pandora : It's not that terrible of a fate, I assure you.

Kvothe : *nods* It never seemed to bother David overly much.

Pandora : *it used to bother /her/ quite a bit* No, not David. He had acquired the maturity necessary to understand what happened, and to relish it.

Kvothe : *nods a bit, though he doesn't know /much/ about David's past*

Pandora : *he's welcome to ask - Pandora's feeling chatty. Besides, it's all in published books!*

Kvothe : *he's read the first couple, the typist thinks...David gave him at least Interview. or maybe he knows more than the typist recalls*

Pandora : At any rate. *smiles* It was a pleasure to meet you - but I wouldn't dream to infringe on your studies...

Kvothe : It was a pleasure meeting you as well. Please give my regards to David if you do manage to find him.

Pandora : I certainly will. *nods, smiles, and stands then, to go*

Kvothe : *smiles back as he politely stands as well*

Pandora : *curtseys, and goes, then*

Kvothe : *bows in return, and returns to his seat and his book when she goes*
