What ridiculousness is this? ACCORDING TO THE RECEPTIONIST AT WORK I AM NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR A HOODIE BECAUSE THE STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR HOODIES.
Her logic? "Well, it wouldn't be fair if staff was allowed to wear them and students weren't." Um, lady, the students have something called a uniform. If I'm not allowed to wear a hoodie then students shouldn't be allowed to wear jeans on free days because I'm not allowed to wear them the rest of the time. See? Her logic is horribly flawed.
It makes perfect sense that students aren't allowed hoodies. A) They have a uniform. B) The school makes zip-ups that students are allowed to wear that are part of their uniform. I have a dress code, not a uniform. I'm not allowed to wear anything that shows lots of leg, tummy or chest. No spaghetti straps, no visible bra straps or underwear, etc. Basic modesty coupled with professional dress. That makes sense.
I am going to speak to one of the principals, because this same receptionist told me I would have to pay for my own grad ticket because I'm only part time staff, and I'm also a student. She asked one of the principals who essentially told her, "of course not! She's not paying for a grad ticket - she works here."
That whole ordeal put me in an awful mood for the afternoon. AGH! And to boot, it's rainy out and I'll get soaked walking back to work.
