Pic Fic! Chapter Two
Title: The Human Experience (Gotta Take the Bad With the Good)

Summary: Dean takes Castiel to the carnival and there are discoveries.

Prologue
Chapter One
Castiel wakes the next morning to the wondrous smell of what Sam calls 'pancakes.'
Recalling how to use the silverware from the previous night, Castiel makes quick work of the pancakes and eats all that he's given. Sam and Dean are happy about that.
After breakfast, Sam leaves for work (a place he refers to as the 'library') and Dean tells Castiel that he's got the day off. Castiel doesn't have any suggestions of what to do and when asked, tells Dean that he's never been to a carnival, whatever that is. So, Dean drags him to the carnival, where they ride something called a 'roller coaster.' Castiel finds the quick motions pleasant, but can't help but think that it is rather slow compared to how fast he can fly.
After the roller coaster, Dean insists that Castiel try a food called cotton candy. Castiel obeys, but finds that the treat is much too sweet for his taste. Dean doesn't mind, though, and finishes the pink stuff himself. Castiel finds himself oddly regretful that he didn't like the cotton candy very much, as he has developed an urge to see Dean smile more.
Shortly after that, some guys in a red vehicle drive past, shouting out something Castiel doesn't understand. Dean seems to, though and shouts out a reply, making what Castiel can only assume is a rude gesture.
When Dean has calmed down a bit, Castiel asks him what the other males meant by 'faggots'. Dean blushes and stutters before eventually explaining that the guys had thought that he and Castiel were involved in a romantic or sexual way. Castiel doesn't understand how loving someone could be a bad thing, same gender or not, but accepts it as one of the eccentricities of humans.
Dean seems relieved that Castiel has this view and later, as they're walking home, slips his hand into Castiel's. Castiel finds this a bit odd, but it feels nice and Dean is smiling again, so Castiel figures holding hands is alright.
Elsewhere, Gabriel is very happy with how things are progressing. Uriel's still wondering why he went along with this whole thing, but he's also wondering why he's sticking around.
