(sorry for the lack of sex)
It's late when John gets back to Bobby's. He's tired, he's sore. And he wants nothing more than to see his kids and his -- and Gabriel.
"Tell your angel to stop hording all the towels," Bobby says as way of greeting.
John rolls his shoulders. "You think he listens to me? Nice to see you too, Bobby."
"The boys are already asleep," Bobby tells him.
Damn, John had hoped they'd still be up he hasn't seen them in a week. "Gabriel didn't let them stay up?"
"You're an idjit, John," Bobby sighs.
John frowns but leaves it alone, not wanting to know what Bobby thinks he's a idjit about this time. He climbs up the stairs.
The boys aren't in their room when John looks in. He panics for a moment -- but there's Bobby and Gabriel and they'd never let a thing touch the boys. He forces himself to calmly walk to the small room Gabriel's turned into a --
John really doesn't want to name it.
He pushes open the door slowly, not wanting to wake anyone. There's been more changes since he's been home. The bed is gone, just mattresses on the floor now surrounded by walls of clothes, towels, sheets, shiny objects, and feathers. In the center of it all is Gabriel and the boys.
Dean and Sam are curled up together sleeping the sleep only small children can. Sam's sucking his tumb and Dean's got an arm protectively slung over him.
"Nightmares," Gabriel says softly.
John almost jumps because it looked like Gabriel was asleep. Gabriel uncurls and sits up, shooting John a smile. His stomach seems more swollen than before.
It always does something to John. Just the idea that Gabriel is swollen and full of his kid. "Bad ones?" John asks.
Gabriel tilts his head to the side. "Dean dreams of fire more nights than he doesn't."
John swallows hard. "I know," he admits even as he kicks off his boots. "But I can't fix that."
Gabriel huffs. "You could be home more," he points out tugging the shirt of John's he's wearing more fully around him.
John's shoulders drop and he hesitates climbing over the wall to wear his family is. "Gabriel..."
"I won't put up with it when the nestling comes," Gabriel says firmly.
There's a threat there Gabriel won't voice, but John hears it. God, does he hear it. But Mary's still dead and the monster that did it is still out there, still has plans for Sammy. He can't --
"John," Gabriel says softly. "Come into the nest."
It's almost embarrassing how quickly he scrambles over to Gabriel. He slides his hands into Gabriel's hair and kisses his fiercely. "I'll try harder," he promises. To be home more, to not loose this too.
Gabriel hums against his mouth. "When the nestling comes -- I'm adding an extension onto this place. The kids all need their own rooms."
John almost laughs but instead kisses Gabriel again.
