Author Signing with Elizabeth Bear
7 pm - 9pm Saturday, November 10th
Elizabeth will be joining us during our 23rd anniversary to sign, read, and do a Q&A for her newest book, Shoggoths in Bloom.
Shoggoths is a compilation of short science fiction and fantasy -- tales of myth and mythic resonance, fantasies both subtle and epic in tone; hard science fiction and speculations about an unknowable universe.
Copies of Shoggoths along with several other of Bear's books will be available at the time of the signing.
Pandemonium Pot Luck Supper
1pm-6pm on Sunday, Nov. 11th
In addition to the two book signings we will be hosting over the weekend, we will also be hosting a Pandemonium Pot Luck Dinner, starting at 1pm on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 11th, and going till 6pm (or until people go home). Unlike most other Pot Luck Dinners we have had in the past, this one has theme, entries will be judged, and prizes will be awarded to those with the best dishes! The theme is: The Lord of the Rings, and the judges will be Daniel & Vivian Abraham, the dreaded Witch-Chefs of Angmar!
Vivian says:
"Tolkien's stories about Middle Earth have been an inspiration to readers, writers, and gamers for many years. Now, let them inspire your cooking! We are looking for dishes inspired by The Lord of the Rings andThe Hobbit, either the books or the movies. Make your own recreation of food that is described therein, or make a dish loosely inspired by Tolkien's lush descriptions of the world of Middle Earth."
Categories for which prizes will be awarded include: the Shire (for the food of the hobbits), Rivendell (for the food of the elves),(for the food of the dwarves), and Here There Be Dragons (for any other sorts of food!)
Judging will take into account how well the dish is inspired by Tolkien's works, the overall presentation of the dish, and the taste of the dish, which will be the most important consideration. "
Prizes will go to the winners of each of the four categories. The size of the prize will be determined by the number of contestants in each field:
- If there is only one contestant, the “winner” will receive a gift certificate for $10.
- If there are two or three contestants in a given category, the winner will receive a gift certificate for $20 or $30 respectively.
- If there are four or more contestants, the WINNER WILL RECEIVE THE 23% ANNIVERSARY DISCOUNT UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR!

Three authors
Angie Frazier,
Leigh Fallon and
Francisco X. Stork will be present at this signing for a reading, discussion, and to answer any questions you may have!
