Title : Chapter 7 : Group of friends

Summary: He doesn't like to socialize, but one day he meets a boy who will change him completely
"Yama-chan! Gomen, i'll meet you a little later at the canteen, there's a new colleague today and boss wants me to bring him around"
Yamada had received a message from Daiki after he and Chinen walked out of class.
Ehhh…he too? Yamada thought to himself before crashing into Chinen.
"Ah..Gomen…" Yamada said. He was so deep in thoughts that he didn't realize that Chinen had stopped at the foot of the stairs, and was looking at him.
"Dai-daijobu?" Yamada asked again after gathering all his courage.
"Ah…" Chinen said softly. "Too…too ma-many people. I don't like it"
"Sou…daijobu, you'll get used to it, I was like you too" Yamada flashed what he thought was his brightest smile as he recalled the first time he met Daiki.
Yamada understood the situation that Chinen was going through. Sure he was. And after hanging out with Dai-chan, Yamada had felt less intimidated by the amount of students although he still preferred to be alone. Someone, meeting Chinen that day had made Yamada want to be more outspoken to help him talk more, just like the way Daiki helped him.
Chinen forced a small smile and shuffled beside Yamada. They reached the canteen and Yamada went to buy his food. "Anoo.. You're not eating?" Yamada asked Chinen, who was looking at the floor.
Chinen held out his left hand, in it, a small lunchbox.
"Ka-san cooked…"
They headed off to Yamada's favorite spot and settled down.
"Hai, itadakimas.." Yamada said softly before taking a hug bite off his tamago. He was dead hungry since he forgot to ate breakfast, something that will never happen since he had a fixed routine.
He looked up to see Chinen stabbing at his lunchbox.
"Doshitae?" Yamada asked again.
"egg-plant…i hate them" Chinen pouts.
"EHH i love them….eto…you wanna swap?" Yamada offered his bento.
"Can-can i???" Chinen looked up at Yamada with a smile before looking down again.
"Sure!" Yamada pushed his tray over to Chinen and took his bento.
"Mmmm…eggplants" Yamada said.
"YAMACHAN~~!" Yamada looked up and saw Daiki walking towards him. He smiled. Today however, there was someone trailing behind Daiki. He was tall and had a cool look on his face.
"Ah, new friend?" Daiki asked.
"Haii…Dai-chan, meet Chinen Yuri…he seats beside me in class" Yamada said.
Chinen looked up slightly and gave a small nod.
"Ahhhh. i have a new colleague too!" Daiki turned around and beckoned the guy to come closer. The guy flashed a bright smile.
"Hello! watashi Takaki Yuya desu." He smiled at Yamada.
Yamada gave a slight smile and trying to keep eye contact with Takaki. He was still not used to it.
Daiki sat down beside Yamada and Takaki sat down beside Chinen after they came back from ordering their food.
"Eh? Lunchbox? Whose?!" Daiki questioned as he saw Yamada chewing happily on an eggplant.
"Ah…Chinen-kun doesn't like eggplants so he swapped his lunchbox with my bento. You know i loooove eggplants" Yamada took another bite and smile.
Daiki took another glance at Chinen, "Sou…sou" and he went back to eating.
They finished lunch and went their separate ways, Chinen and Yamada back to class, Daiki and Takaki back to the office.
School ended that day and Yamada started packing up. As usual, he would be meeting Daiki at the busstop. Turning around to look at Chinen he said "How are you going home? I'll be going to the bus stop. Are you going that way too?"
Chinen nodded.
They left their classroom and walked towards the bus stop. Upon reaching the bus stop, Yamada saw Daiki and Takaki.
"YO yamada-kun!" Takaki called over to Yamada.
"Oo?" Yamada stopped, and waved, not used to someone calling him that way.
"Oh! Chinen-kun's going the same way as us too?" Daiki asked.
It turned out that all four of them takes the same bus and stays at the same area. Takaki and Chinen had just shifted into the same block of apartment, but on different floors.
"Ahh. so we're all neighbors nehh" Takaki said.
Daiki and Yamada nodded their head, Chinen continued to stare at the floor.
Their bus came and lucky enough, they found four seats. Daiki sat beside Takaki and Chinen sat beside Yamada since Daiki and Takaki got up the bus first.
"Yamada-kun?" Chinen looked at Yamada and said in a small voice.
"Ah? Doshitae?" Yamada asked.
"Do you have anything for bus-sick? I feel like puking…"
Yamada quickly took out his tub of gummy bears and passed it to Chinen.
"Here, chew on this, you'll feel better"
Chinen took the tub and thanked yamada.
On the journey to the train station, Yamada listened to his music and looked out of the window. Daiki had fell asleep at the front seat and Takaki was playing with his iphone.
Suddenly, Yamada felt a thud on his shoulder. Turning round, he saw Chinen's head lying on his shoulder, asleep.
Yamada's heart went "doki doki" when he saw Chinen's head lying on his shoulder. Well nobody had laid on his shoulder before.
Ehhh, why is my heart going doki doki??? Yamada questioned himself.
He shrugged the question off and continued to look out of the window, trying to reduce the movement on his shoulder so as to not wake Chinen up.
Daiki and Yamada had dinner after they alighted from the train. Chinen had left silently and Takaki seemed to have disappeared shortly after, after saying bye.
"Nehh Yama-chan. Do you have anyone you like right now?" Daiki asked Yamada as they walked home after dinner.
"AH? iie iie, who can i like. Who will like me anyways" Yamada replied.
"Ah don't think like that. There is probably someone that likes you know nehh. Just that you don't know" yeah i like you, like now.
Yamada laughed, "why would anyone like someone like me!"
"Yama-chan" Daiki called again, "Do you believe that guys can like each other?"
"Anoo…to me, liking and loving someone doesn't have to be based on gender. I mean, if i really like someone, i would want to be with him or her forever, i won't care about their gender"
Daiki's heart did a backflip. So he has a chance.
"Nehh Dai-chan. Does your heart go doki doki when you like someone?"
"haha yes it does. And you'll feel as though you want to hug the person everytime" Daiki pounced on Yamada and gave him a hug.
Yamada turned to Daiki "maaa.maa why the suddenly friendship hug?"
"I just felt like it" Daiki said, ruffling Yamada's hair.
Of course he didn't just feel like it. He like Yamada so much his heart was dying so much for him and he wanted to hug Yamada to ease the pain.
Daiki went back home first to shower and pack his stuff before heading over to Yamada's house. He was going to stay over there tonight since Yamada's parents were out and he had nothing to do at home. Yamada had invited him over since he didn't want the same situation to happen when there's a thunderstorm at night.
"AHHHHHH!!! ITAII!" Daiki had accidentally knocked his head against the cupboard in Yamada's room.
"Daijobu?" Yamada walked over, rubbing Daiki's head for him.
"Daijobu daijobu" Daiki said before sitting down on the beanbag. Yamada plopped down beside him with a manga in his hand and started reading.
*BSTTST* The lights went off.
"GYAAA!" Daiki hugged Yamada. "Who turned off the lights"
It was already ten at night and there was a sudden power failure.
"Ah, power failure." Yamada tried to squint in the dark, looking out of the window, he saw that it was pitch dark outside as well.
"Daijobu", he said, patting Daiki's head. Few minutes later, the light came on. Daiki was whimpering on Yamada's chest an Yamada had his head laid on Daiki's head.
Daiki looked up at him when the lights turn on and they hit their foreheads.
"I--tai" Yamada said, before realizing that Daiki's face was just inches away from his. Before Yamada could stop himself, he moved his face nearer to Daiki's and stared at his lips. Daiki froze in his spot, shocked at what was happening.
Yamada stopped just centimetres from Daiki's face. He could feel his heartbeat getting stronger and stronger and stronger. Daiki felt a blush creeping up his face. Yamada pushed Daiki away. "Gomen…" Yamada said, looking away. He didn't understand why he did that. He didn't understand why his heart started beating so quickly. He didn't understand why he was so attracted to Daiki's lips.
Well, Yamada had never felt love or liked anyone before so he was confused with those actions of his.
Daiki stoned for awhile and looked at Yamada. He spook.
"Yama-chan…can i sleep beside you today. Im afraid of the blackout…." pretending nothing had ever happened.
Yamada nodded. and placed his manga down. He settled down on his bed and patted his mattress. Daiki walked over and sat down.
They didn't feel awkward sleeping on the same bed though. Yamada felt that it was normal. Yamada hugged Daiki. "Daijobu, i'll be here, you don't have to be afraid of the dark nehh"
Daiki nodded and settled his head on his pillow. Switching off all the lights except the bed lamp, Yamada settled down on his pillow and fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, the four of them met up and left for school and work together. When Yamada saw Chinen, his heart did a leap. He couldn't help but notice Chinen him. He looked so fragile and he wanted to take care of him. Chinen was once again staring at the floor.
Ahhhh what's wrong with me? Why is my heart going doki doki when i see Chinen! And what did i do last night! Why was i staring at Daiki's lips!
Yamada shrugged off those thoughts again.
It was second period and Chinen felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned and saw Yamada.
"Gomen…can you help me with this maths question?"
Chinen looked at Yamada and smiled, taking his maths book and solving the question for him.
"Arigato nehh" Yamada said when Chinen passed his book back.
Chinen nodded.
"Gomen Chinen-kun, actually….this question too. And this question and this one and this one…" Yamada pointed to a series of questions.
"Ano….i can…help you after school…." Chinen said.
"oh…haii haii. What about you come over to my house"
Chinen nodded. Yamada smiled.
They ended school and met Daiki and Takaki at the bus stop.
"Yo yamada! Im going over to Daiki's house today. We've got work to do"
Takaki said.
"Oh…Chinen-kun's coming over as well to help me with maths" Yamada said.
"Haii….ikuzo then"
They left for the respective houses after getting out of the lift. They had agreed to meet at 7 after they have finished studying/working to have dinner together outside.
While Chinen was teaching Yamada, Yamada couldn't stop thinking about what Takaki and Daiki were doing in Daiki's house. At the same time, he felt rather awkward being alone with Chinen in his room.
We're guys right! Nothing to be awkward about right??? Yamada kept telling himself. He eventually managed to forget about all his thoughts and concentrate on the maths that's he's suppose to do.
7pm came and they met at the left lobby. Yamada immediately bounced over to Daiki when he saw him. It was unintentional and he just felt like being beside Daiki.
When Chinen was with Takaki, he could talk and open up. Takaki was really patient when he talked to Chinen and tried various ways to make him laugh. It was just like the time when Daiki tried to make Yamada open up.
Yamada smiled when he saw Chinen smiling. Daiki saw Yamada smiling and started smiling as well. Takaki saw the three of them smiling and laughed.
"Minna Choo kawaii nehh!"
They all erupted into a fit of laughter, including Chinen.
