So it was 2 week last Saturday since Sammy had her accident. She went in for a checkup yesterday and the vet is very happy with her progress. Our next checkup is in a week!
So Sammy got out we think on Friday July 23rd. We found her late July 24th with a huge laceration across her body. We rushed her to the pet emergency room and got her into surgery to clean up her wound and sew it up. She came home early Sunday morning with the 6 inches of stitches across her chest to around her shoulders, a drain tube running liquid out of her wound, a broken collar bone, 5 or 6 teeth missing, electrical burn on her lips and mouth, several blister in her mouth and patches of fur missing all over her body. She was quite a pathetic site. Sunday was spent trying to make her comfortable. We put her in the spare bedroom so the other kitties and Sara won’t be able to bother her. On Monday morning, we took her to our normal vet for a recheck. He seemed really worried about her mouth, so he kept her while we went to work. She did so well with eating and getting lot of fluids, so they said I could take her home. Sammy is a little porker. I really did not worry about her not eating but you never know. I took her back to the vet Tuesday to get her drain tube removed and more medicine for pain and antibiotics and he prescibed Green Tea to help her mouth heal. We did not have to go back until Friday and it was just a mouth recheck. She is doing so well. She is scabbing over and hopefully the scabs will fall off with the stitches attached. The only bad thing is about a week ago she felt so good that she started to clean herself again and she managed to tear a few of her stitches out, but the vet thinks the wound is healing just fine by itself. Yeah! No more surgeries (knock on wood)! But she now has to wear the cone around her head full time! Yesterday the vet gave us the ok to let her out with the rest of the animals. She really loves being with us instead of locked in a room by herself. She will be almost new soon. Will update more when I know more.
