[summary] Suki Desu Suzuki-kun!! Chapter 22

Oct 10, 2011 22:30

Sorry for the loooong wait! I've been pretty flat out lately, but finally here is the summary for chapter 22! It's the beginning for some trying times in Hikaru and Hoshino's relationship!

Completely surprised, Hikaru exclaims, "Aoi Erika?!", much to Erika's annoyance, who drags him off to somewhere more private. She scolds him for being so careless, saying that he could have caused a huge commotion if anyone found out that she, "the genius actress, Aoi Erika", was in this school. Hikaru, not at all charmed by Erika, is totally ticked off at how high and mighty she's acting. He starts lecturing her about her bad manners, and Erika is totally taken aback having never encountered anyone so unaffected by her presence. They argue for a bit until Hikaru realises he's going to be late for Hoshino's play. He's about to rush off when Erika stops him, "You're on your way to watch Hoshino Sayaka's play..?"

Hoshino is going to play the charismatic, music-loving Maria in the musical, "The Sound of Music", for her drama club play. While looking through the cast list, Erika isn't surprised to see Hoshino playing the lead role and mentions that coming here was worth her while after all. Hikaru is surprised that a professional actress has purposely gone out of her way to witness Hoshino's raw talent, and once again realises how amazing Hoshino is. Erika then becomes suspicious of how invested Hikaru is in Hoshino, and he admits that he's her boyfriend. She scoffs at Hoshino's lack of taste in men, and they are just about to start bickering again when the curtain opens and the play begins.

Hoshino's Maria is a bright, comic and enjoyable character that has both Hikaru and Erika is fits of laughter. As the story progresses to a more serious tone, Hikaru is totally touched by Maria's strength of character and her love for her husband and children as they flee from Austria to America to escape the Nazis.

As the curtain closes he's sniffing along with the rest of the audience, when he notices that even Erika is trying to hold back tears, who’s completely touched by Hoshino's performance but vexed at being reduced to tears once again by her. Hikaru is impressed, that despite her almighty attitude, at least Erika recognises
Hoshino’s talent. He hands her some tissues to wipe her tears, but when Erika takes off her glasses to do so, someone notices and exclaims, "Aoi...Erika...?!" This sends the entire gymnasium into an uproar. Hikaru then picks her up, "Hold on tight, we're going to escape!!" When Hoshino takes a look outside the window, she catches a glimpse of Hikaru carrying Erika in his arms.

Hikaru shows Erika the back entrance so that she can safely make her escape. Frazzled, Erika wonders why Hikaru is helping her since all she's done is peeve him off. But Hikaru smiles and says it's because she praised Hoshino which made him super happy. Erika blushes, but agains scoffs at him, "Hmph... is that all? Well you're completely head over heels for that girl aren't you?" Hikaru agrees and says that he's been Hoshino's number one fan ever since they met. But Erika isn't satisfied, so she asks Hikaru what he'll do if one day Hoshino ends up becoming a famous actress, "She may end up in a world beyond your reach. Even then, will you still be able to support her as a fan?" Hikaru straight up says he'll hate for Hoshino to go far away from him, "But, so that I don't end up hindering the dreams of the girl I love, I don't plan on being a nobody! There's only one thing for it, I’ll do my best to grow into a great man, so that I'll always have a hold on Hoshino's heart!!"

Erika is completely smitten, but hides her admiration by turning away and being snarky. As she proceeds to take her leave, she says that this is the last time she'll come to see Hoshino, and that the next time they meet will be when Hoshino comes to her (in the entertainment world). She then adds with a tinge of regret that this is probably the last time her and Hikaru will meet too, "I almost wish I had met you before her...", before pulling him into a kiss. At which point Hoshino stumbles upon them.

Hikaru breaks apart all a fluster, much to Erika's amusement, who tells him she only wanted to tease him a little since he spoke so lovingly about his girlfriend. With that, she takes her leave, but not before reminiscing over the kiss and trying to reassure herself that she was only teasing him. Hikaru, still peeved off, turns around only to find Hoshino standing right behind him. He panics but she smiles and says she'd been looking for him, which makes Hikaru believe she didn't see anything. So when Hoshino asks him what he was doing here at the back of the school, he lies that he got a call from home, since he thinks that Hoshino would simply misunderstand if he told her the truth. Hoshino, fighting to hold back her tears, confesses that she witnessed the kiss and was all ready to believe his explanation, but after being lied to like that, she can't bring herself to believe in him even if she wants to.

Hoshino runs off, her mind reeling with what has just happened, "Why was he alone with Erika-chan? Why were they kissing? Did he try and hide it out of guilt?" Hikaru tries to stop her, but she refuses to let him look at her, knowing that right now her face must be contorted with jealousy and because she loves him so much, she can't stand him seeing her look that way. At that moment Sato appears, jokingly saying that he thought maybe Hikaru and Hoshino were fighting, so she should leave Hikaru and instead go on a date with him around the festival. Taking the opportunity, Hoshino jumps into Sato's arms to hide her face from Hikaru, "Take me...I'll come with you senpai, so please take me with you...!"
[ Narration: Autumn, in their second year of middle school.
A storm is brewing on the horizon. ]

Oh golly, well now it's time for some turbulence between our happy-go-lucky couple! XP About the next chapter, I'm not sure but it'll probably be in November! :3
