I've not mentioned this hamster to anyone really yet. About a week ago, on the way home from Witches Ball we saw a cage dangerously close to the parking lot set out on the sidewalk. The neighbors said it wasn't their cage and it had been out for a few hours. I looked to see if there was anything in there and wasn't too surprised to see a tiny Syrian hamster in the cage:
There is no name for him yet, and I was very surprised to see how calm and well mannered this hamster is. He is incredibly used to being held and picked up and will do the travel from hand to hand thing tame hamsters like to do. He loves his wheel and his ball and loves to mess with our cats when he is in the ball. Did I mention he was very well mannered?
I think that Chris and I had decided to try and find another home for this little guy. He is very low maintenance and hamsters don't really get sick often but whatever home he does find I do expect them to find vet care if even ever needed, be able to allow him to play in his ball about everyday and provide nice fluffy carefresh or ASPEN bedding (nothing really else would be good for this guy. No pine or cedar and clean his cage weekly. Also anyone that may adopt him should keep his cage out of reach or in an restricted room away from any cats that may find him too interesting for safety.
If you are interested, please note and I will send an adoption application. I trust no one reading my lj will use him as snake food, so no adoption fee required here. He's a really good hamster and it's going to be really hard to give him up but I think it will be better for him to have more attention than I can give.
More pictures for the tempting:
He does come with a cage, wheel, hamster ball, food dish, hidey log (and I have a little igloo too if you want it) and whatever carefresh I will have left. I do recommend getting him a larger cage though as the one he is in is what I could afford at the time (I purchased a new one because the one he was in previously just had duct tape covering up holes and I worried about him escaping).
