Posting more regularly... yeah, that worked. It's been a combination of nothing worth posting and being to busy to post when I did have something... so: this week in review!
The German assistant's boyfriend, who shares my birthday, came down for the week so that we could celebrate together. We all had a lot of fun doing things like going bowling (I have now bowled over a 120 in the US, Germany, and France) and watching the Champions' League match between Olympique Lyon and Real Madrid. Good times were had by all in abundance.
School went well enough but nothing of note really happened, except for the one day where they had a conference, and so all of my teachers had substitutes. It was an interesting day because one class went like normal, one class the sub actually had better control than the normal teacher, one sub had way less control, and the last teacher took a third of my time finishing math (which I was OK with, but still just a bit awkward).
One of my teachers asked me today how many lessons I had left, at which point I had that realization that I only have 5 weeks of teaching left, and one of those is going to be a week-long going-away party, like as not. Weird.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything else to report on.
Big 3
Best: My mom's birthday present of peanut butter based cookies and candy, and my brother's gift of a drawing of Leonard and Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory and a Nero action figure (from the new Star Trek movie)
Worst: Finding out that there was a bowling club. I could have been doing that twice a week and worked towards my goal of breaking 200.
Funniest: Watching Big Bang Theory and seeing the scene where they find a "One Ring" from Lord of the Rings prompting something along the lines of: Sheldon, "One Ring to rule them all" Howard, "One Ring to find them" Raj, "One Ring to bring them all" and Leonard, "And in the darkness bind them. ... Man we're geeks." And me thinking "You can't be geeks if you only use the part of the poem that was in the movies. I mean you would have been geeks if you at least tacked on the ending 'in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.' Crap. I'm a geek."
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his Dark Throne.
One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all,
and in the darkness bind them
in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
